Re: 1990 1/2 ton suburban 5.7 low engine powerSuspect everyt
This is a very late (overdue) post . I did spend a little time rechecking the egr but no problems found. It took a while to find the timing wire, but after checking the timing, it was so far retarded, and that was the problem. Often its the basics. I think they had been dring this truck with it time...

1990 1/2 ton suburban 5.7 low engine powerSuspect everything
I could use a litle help with some places to start on the cheap. This is a truck our shop just inherited. 211K miles. A/T 4x4 5.7 fuel inj. (two injectors at manifold). This truck runs good at idle and such but is weak on power and especially after it get up to third gear or OD. as it hits overdrive...

2003 Honda Civic Hybrid - Battery Replacement?
Good Day from the Great Northwest.... Anyone replaced a hybrid battery yet. Seems like Napa, Interstate and other battery manufactures know less than I do about where to get them. Dealer only seems like a bad answer. I hate to go that route. 2003 Honda civic nice car and is still opperating ok but h...

I truly hate this truck and can't wait to stop test driving this turd. Canopy, lighted mud flaps, running boards, every old man option money can buy.

Re: 1998 Ford F150 - 4x4 Hot Drum Brakes
Still working on this one. So it's definitively not the drum machining issue. But yes I've seen that happen before. Steve, I did later disconnect the cables completely and it still got hot. I decided to replace the rear rubber hose just to make sure there was not a check valve type situation going o...

1998 Ford F150 - 4x4 Hot Drum Brakes
1998 F 150 4x4 rear brakes get hot but they are not adjusted too tight. Parking brake cables apply and release as they should. adjusters are not installed backwards or on the wrong sides. new shoes twice. wheel cylinders and return spring kit are new and everything releases properly. I put this truc...

Audi A6 - Rr Disc Brakes = New To Me
I'm skeptical if I want to get into this one for my first electronic brake car. Not too far into procedures it starts hooking up scan tools to the computer that I do not have. What do I really need to know before servicing the brakes here?

Re: 2005 Ford Escape - Hybrid Eng Replace
Good news... Learned alot. Which basically means that it took alot more time than Mitchell or alldata suggests. 14-15 hrs?? How about 30+ for our first one. Disconnect the normal 12 v battery, then theres the orange dial switch in the back near the batteries. Turn it to the service position and remo...

2005 Ford Escape - Hybrid Eng Replace
We're replacing a 4 cyl. 2.3 litre hybrid engine in a 2005 Escape AWD. 75K, on wednesday. It looks like its lived a life with not enough oil and it rolled into our shop rattling hard Monday. Im replacing it with a good used engine from a reliable source, with 70K. I've looked up the procedures for d...

Re: 2007 Merc Montego - Charging Problem
Seams like you might be picking up pieces of his mistake somewhere along the line. Just like the guy her today that is (his own mechanic), but wants us to do headgaskets on a 1995 - 237K nissan V6 that runs just fine right now. Some jobs are a set up! He's not telling you the whole story. (ps)... I ...

Re: 2007 Nisan Armada tire pressure light.
I held out for a long time purchasing a tpms tool because there were too many options and I felt like the tool I bought would either be outdated or only do limited applications. I bought the Bartech 400 plus. Make sure it has the plus feature, this will do nissans and hyundais. I've been happy with ...

Re: Excursion V 10 spark plugs GET OUT
With a mirror you could see a chunk of something on both sides of the plug. Here's what worked. I took a 17 mm deep socket and ground out the inside so it would not catch on the hex of the spark plug. Then with a sawsall and a file I cut some sharp teeth in it. Kind of made it look like a hole saw b...

Re: Excursion V 10 spark plugs GET OUT
I think youre right. Its all brittle and cant get anything to break it up. Modifying a socket has not worked yet. Gonna get more drastic. Thanks. It can never be the easy one huh
