Re: Carfax Wrong?

The first problem is what makes me glad that I am in Alabama, where when you get rid of a car, the tag is to be destroyed. It does not transfer with the car, and the owner cannot transfer it to a new vehicle to reuse.

2005 Chev Aveo - Code P0300

Well gentlemen (and ladies if you are reading) I implore again on your knowledge. I am fighting a loosing battle it appears. I have a customer with a 2005 Chevy Aveo with a P0300, and history missfires on cylinders 1 and 4. Their complaint is CEL light on and flashing, and "hold" light on, vehicle w...

Partial Payment, Open Invoice

I am curious on something. Because of the local economy, I have several customers "on payment" meaning that when I repair their vehicle, it stays in my shop until they pay it off. They may come in one week and pay $100, then the next week pay $50, and so on. PERSONALLY I would like to keep the invoi...

Re: 2005 PT Cruiser - Cooling Fan Operation w/AC Engaged

OK, this is what I have found so far. According to my wiring diagram the high pressure switch is closed until pressure gets to the preset point, then the switch will open, telling the PCM to disengage the compressor. The low pressure switch and high pressure switch are in series, so this make sense ...

Re: 2005 PT Cruiser cooling fan operation with AC engaged

When you say "high pressure transducer" are you referring to the high pressure switch? or Something else? EDIT: OK, I found it, it is also known as the high pressure switch...now that I know that, I have a question on it. If this pressure switch were bad, wouldn't the compressor not come on at all?

Re: 2005 PT Cruiser cooling fan operation with AC engaged

UPDATE

I have verified that I can command both the high and low speeds using a scan tool. So fan operation and that part of the wiring is fine. Still unsure why it wont come on by itself with the AC system engaged.

2005 PT Cruiser - Cooling Fan Operation w/AC Engaged

I have look up description and operation in Mitchell, but it still seems a bit vague. I am assuming that like all other cars I have worked on, the cooling fan is supposed to come on whenever the AC compressor is engaged. This one does not, and the AC system is very weak when at idle and not moving. ...

I will take all of this under advisement. I was figuring the turbo was going to have to be replaced. Kinda one of those gut feelings you know? thanks for the input.

Re: 1985 LeBaron smoking exhaust

Thanks for the input. I will look into that. I was thinking more along the lines of the seal between the oil supply and the actual inlet from the exhaust being the culprit. I will look into the other possibilities mentioned. If it were being forced into the intake, I should obviously see signs of oi...

1985 Chrysler LeBaron - 2.2L Turbo Smoking Exhaust

I thought I would put this out here for some advice. I am not familiar with the older Chrysler vehicles, and haven't worked with small turbocharged engines (I just don't see many of them) So here is what I have: !985 Chrysler LeBaron with the 2.2 inline 4 cylinder with a turbocharger. The customer h...

1998 Lincoln Power Distr Box Diagram?

I am working on a 1998 Lincoln Town Car and have been searching for almost an hour trying to find a diagram that shows what fuse/relay is which in the power distribution box. I have all sorts of diagnostic information stating "located in power distribution box" for fuses and relays, but can't find a...

Re: 2006 Ford F350 Super Duty - 6.0L Crank/No Start?

I am currently waiting on a response from the customer. After performing a fresh oil change you could tell that the original oil was much thinner than it should be. We checked to be sure, but it had the consistency of a 50/50 mix of oil and diesel. (We drained out exactly 15 quarts, and there was no...

Re: 2006 Ford F350 Super Duty - 6.0L Crank/No Start?

While an internal oil leak is obviously possible, I just find it hard to believe that the truck has been running fine until the oil change. also, it starts up fine when cold. Wouldn't an internal leak cause this problem all the time? Or am I missing something?

Re: 2006 Ford F350 Super Duty - 6.0L Crank/No Start?

Before I go replacing any parts I want to find the actual failure first. I am not into the shotgun approach in finding a problem. That is why I am taking so long in troubleshooting. So far the highest probability here are two things: Oil viscosity incorrect (due to recent oil change when the problem...

Re: 2006 F350Superduty 6.0 crank/no start

Lots of good information from all of you. I will look at the data more directly and see what I can find. This morning when I went to start it cold (sat since Saturday afternoon) It cranked for about 5-7 seconds and then started right up. After it started it seemed to initially idle fine. I didn't le...

2006 Ford F350 Super Duty - 6.0L Crank/No Start?

OK guys, I would be grateful for any help I can get here. I have in my shop a 2006 Ford F350 Superduty with the 6.0 diesel. Customer brought it to me with an intermittent cranks but won't start. When cold it seems to fire off just fine, so far. After driven and warms up, it then has a problem. When ...

Re: 2010 Kia Optima - Lunges When Braking?

I will talk to her about the brake switch to see if that is the problem. Yeah, I get a lot of jokes about the ex. The split was hard, but we have actually become friends. I still cant see her with her new husband (she lives in Texas, I live in Alabama), but we still talk and all. 13 years and 2 kids...
