2003 Dodge R1500 - 5.7L VIN D 4WD P0441 FIXED

Post by nickscarcare »

The truck has about 194,000 on it. I have a truck here that has had this code back twice now.

I have smoke tested, just to check, check proper operation at solenoid, and it will hold vacuum and release it when commanded. I never have had this vehicle long enough to let it cool though. If I am reading right it only checks this code when vehicle is cool. I am thinking it is the purge solenoid, but hate throwing parts at it.

Any help would be great if anyone has seen this.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

PO441 is a no flow code. My info says it's checked hot though. Anyway, you're probably right. Purge not opening will definitely cause this. On some purge valves, I've had to actuate them over and over to get them to fail. If all the lines are clear, it's likely the purge. Can you monitor the LDP switch while applying vacuum? That's how the PCM knows there's a change. I've also seen LDP's fail too. Often, we'll replace both as a precaution.

Ok I replaced the purge solenoid and the NVLD pump and light has not been back on. Thought I better update this post. The customer opted just to replace both for the minor cost. I do believe it was the purge, but knowing chryslers history is why the customer opted to replace both.

Shot Gunning in these situations sometimes is prudent. 190k i wouldn't hesitate because as we al know when the light comes on again "it's on again, you didn't fix it". On yodas i will only replace the valve as part of the canister. No if's and's or but's...........he said butt.
