Carquest issue?

Post by Rich »

Is this something I need to call TS about, or call into Carquest? I am getting it more and more. I have to go in and change the vehicle info, then fight to correct it again. It seems to reset the vehicle number thingy y'all talk about.

Rich,

That's a server response, meaning CQ didn't couldn't parse the vehicle as it was setup. Is this happening mostly on trucks? Also, do you know if the VIN was decoded for the ones you've had trouble with? That tends to go a long way in vehicle resolution.

This car belonged to "Dad" and i had just sold the vehicle to "son", i had changed the plate and decoded it moments before error. This vehicle is a 2011 Buick LaCrosse CXL

I will keep an eye on the ones i have an issue with.

My biggest issue is the system hates it. I went in and changed the model to LaCrosse CKS, that seems to flip that number thing. But I back and "decode" the plate and it freaks out because that plate comes back to a VIN in the system. When it happens in takes (if i am not interrupted) a few minutes to fix.

And I don't like that this could be a CQ issue. Means I have to deal with their TS. :(

As for VIN decoding. I have to say that 99% of the vehicles here are decoded using the plate. If it is a "dealer" car we are working on, and it has no plate, i use VIN. That is a very small % of our business.

Rich,

Plate-to-VIN-to-YMM should be fine as well. In this example though, did the VIN decode (from plate) to the wrong submodel/trim level?

No Sir, the VIN/Plate decoded correctly. I can go into NAPA and look stuff up without any issue.

(we stock CQ filters, thus the reason to have to use CQ)

Dan - share the plate when you get it. What state is it registered in?

Rich,

Thus far I've had no problems testing with this plate. Carquest has opened without issue and appears to be passing the vehicle. Perhaps there was something in the change of ownership workflow that I missed. I'd say to go ahead and check in with our support the next time it happens so we can follow your steps.

I have gotten it on random cars without changing ownership. I will call in next time I get the warning. Thanks

Thanks, Rich.

I had a chance to review the support recording. It definitely looks like the catalog is caching incorrect information about the vehicle. I'd guess it happens often enough for the Reset button to exist.
