If I understand correctly, you just want the customers that you did business with in 2016? Do you want just the "list" or do you want to run labels too?

yes, with their sales amounts. Labels would be great, but I can always generate labels in the follow up reports.

The Customer By Sales report approach is fairly simple to get you the list to export and then sort it in Excel, it just doesn't include the addresses. Run the report; in the print preview window select the Export icon (looks like a disk) in the upper LH corner. Select XLS Data Only for the output and copy to familiar place like desktop or 'my documents'. Then open it in Excel and sort Z-A by Last In Date field. Find 01/01/2016 and discard all previous to that, Save As "2016 people" or similar.

If you did a MM Query (mail merge - export file) you could do the same thing but also get the addresses (and more data) along with it1.

Mail Merge allows shops to create more detailed communication with the customer by inserting vehicle and service specifics such as service dates, mileage, category of service and more from your SE database into an output file that can be edited in Excel and serve as the data source for a Word document template you create and format in Microsoft® Word. To do this, you must have Excel and Word installed on your PC. To create and “print” an export file, Select Reports. The Report Selection dialog box displays; select the Follow Up tab to display available options. Double-click on *MM – Create Data Export File to gain access to the Followup tabs to create the query.

Now build a Search using a date range and possibly some of the filters provided to generate a list of customer records. The purpose of this activity is to populate a query to run that creates the output file followup.csv that can be opened in Excel (to make any changes). This becomes the data source for the list of recipients plus actual service history data to be inserted into the subsequent mail-merge document created with Word. Select your search criteria based on service date, category, vehicle make, zip code, recommendations, inspections and more, click on Search and then click on Print which will write the csv file to the destination (folder, desktop, etc) you choose.
The resulting file named followup.csv will include the following data fields: FirstName, LastName, SpouseName, Title, Date of Birth, EmailAddress, Address, City, state, ZipCode, Company, Cust ID, Vehicle ID, Year, make, Model, Engine, License Plate, Unit #, last In Date, Inspection Date, Miles Per Day, Balance Due, Credit Amount, Average RO, YTD Total, Credit History, Category, Description, Membership #, Remarks, Lifetime Total, First Visited, last Visited, Lifetime Visits, Phone Number and Phone Description for all 10 potential entries plus Odometer In and Odometer Out.
