Recommendations No Longer In Red?

Post by KSTAUTOMOTIVE »

Anyone notice the recommendations part on invoice printouts are no longer standing out in red ink? Used to be...

Anyone else or is it me?

If so is there a patch to return to RED?

Tim,

6.4.70

last invoice was 3/10/11 printed in red, right before I updated SE. Does Template matter? I forget at the moment what invoice template shows, but has been the same since day 1.

Started with 6.4.? 01/01/2011

I called Tech support and they said it was a purposeful change due to too many people complaining of printer using too much red ink????

Hadn't heard that about Recommendations, but it's possible. What I did hear was shops reporting customers didn't like Bal Due appearing in red as it looked bad to them, like they had done something wrong.

It is a option built into the document template. Look in the lower RH corner of an invoice (you can zoom it up on screen) and tell me what the name and/or date is there.

From my support inquiry:

"We’ve had a number of complaints about every spot that does appear in red. Printers are often not compensating for a lack of ink, and will print blank spots instead of gray scaling. Change intentionally made with the revised report pack."

So it's been an issue (generated enough calls) that a change was made in this regard.

I'll see if anything else can be done.

I posted two files that print recommendation in bold red. One for 32bit systems, the other for 64 bit systems. Simply copy down the appropriate file and run it at your workstation. Please do not call tech support for help with these files, they do not support them, they are only supported via this forum.

For 32 bit systems: http://m1faqs.com/fix/SE/spec-reports/InvHrs32.exe

For 64 bit systems: http://m1faqs.com/fix/SE/spec-reports/InvHrs64.exe

Kevin, I'd forgotten that the above files were already available from 2011. Did you apply the appropriate file to your system?

Used to be standard stuff before...should not need to upgrade for color
Please understand is we got a ton of complaints about red ink and to change it back, we didn't do it on a lark.

Did you have SE closed when you applied the file fix? Which file did you try?

Kevin ran a patch I built to install custom invoice templates with more color - you can download a installer at http://m1faqs.com/fix/SE/inv-colors.exe . In addition to adding red back the recommendation title, I've done about a dozen other little nifty embellishments. This installer also updates some RO templates as well. Can you spot them? If you wish to install these enhanced templates, close the management software and run the file listed above. It should be done on each computer. Save the file for the next time Mitchell sends and update, you will need to run it again. If you have technical questions about this installer, please post them here, tech support doesn't help with these.

I ran this patch now my logo is way to big on the invoice. It throws my header with name and address out of whack. How do I get back to the way it was before I tried this? I should've left well enough alone.

I've tried removing the logo and installing the original one I made but that didn't change anything.

Some help ASAP would be appreciated.

The installer replaced certain templates on your system; it probably didn't rename the old ones and save them. They could be copied back into your system from the SE install disc.

Look here and perhaps sort by date to find the new version(s): C:\Program Files (x86)\M1-SK\Teamworks\Manager\Reports [default location; can vary]

Locate the old version(s) on disc and copy to this directory; answer yes to each replacement.

I'm having a hard time finding them on the disc. Any hints you can give me to help find them?
