Apply tax to, labor
8.5..2.670 So I set up a canned job for undercoating, here in MN tax has to be applied to labor for undercoating, I go to tax in the canned job when set up and it says applied, but says that for all canned job labors I see, but when it is transfered to a repair order it does not tax automatically, only if I go tom that labor line and click tax, then hit apply tax to labor? What am I doing wrong?
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

A control was added to make departures from default labor tax settings.
When you open the tax table for that labor item in the Canned Job you gain access to this:

Yes that is all clicked, and still does not apply tax to labor when put in repair order

My thought was that the checkbox to be UN-Checked.nickscarcare wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 1:35 pmYes that is all clicked, and still does not apply tax to labor when put in repair order
If your labor is set to non-taxable labor, with the box checked (default), it's just going to follow that system setting.
Unchecking the box exposes the tax table where you can specify tax #2 as needed for the Canned Job.

Re: Apply tax to, labor
Unchecked, checked all stays the same, even have the account class set to labor taxable, still no avail. I am guessing there is not a fix to this problem. We cant be the only ones who have to put tax on some labor items.

Re: Apply tax to, labor
I think you missed a step where you needed to check the box in the canned job; it does work as follows:nickscarcare wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 10:26 amUnchecked, checked all stays the same, even have the account class set to labor taxable, still no avail. I am guessing there is not a fix to this problem. We cant be the only ones who have to put tax on some labor items.
1. The labor tax needed exists in your tax table (line #2 or similar)
2. The labor line in the canned job has the checkbox unchecked (exposing the tax table)
3. Check the box for the labor tax on line #2 (or similar) and click OK to save it.
4. Sell the canned job and observe the tax on the order has changed accordingly.

Okay.
1. UNCHECK the box for default tax rate.
2. Then select the tax on line #2. (we believe you have this in your database already)
3. Click OK to save this detail of your canned job.

Re: Apply tax to, labor
Well I believe that worked, I thought that box would have had to be checked to have the tax applied. Hmm seems to work now thanks!!!!

Great. That box is checked by default so it was just gonna follow how it normally works. By unchecking the box - that's what frees you to make that ALTERNATE tax behavior.nickscarcare wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 11:46 amWell I believe that worked, I thought that box would have had to be checked to have the tax applied. Re: Apply tax to, labor
I was thinking if it was checked it should apply, thats the way it reads since the heading at the top says labor is taxable

Re: Apply tax to, labor
Right; I think the initial setting displayed at the top is incorrect on a system where the labor is defaulted to non-taxable.nickscarcare wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 10:35 amI was thinking if it was checked it should apply, thats the way it reads since the heading at the top says labor is taxable
That reminds me; the account class (revenue bucket) for THIS item should be set to Labor (Taxable) as all your labor normally gets recorded under Labor Non-Taxable. The invoice was going to be correct, but certain reports might be off a bit.

Re: Apply tax to, labor
Yes I already had labor class taxable there. Thanks again for the help!
