Water Pump Replacement Duramax Diesel

It appears that the labor times are incorrect for water pump replacements on Duramax 6.6L engines from 2001 on up. GM factory warranty times are 5.9 hours for the VIN 2, 6, and D. Alldata shows that the replacement times are 8 hours for all engines. For the VIN 1 engine factory warranty time is listed as 3.0. Mitchell has the time as 4.6 and Alldata has the time as 5.9. The Alldata time for the VIN 1 is closer to the realistic time. The other engines should be at 8 hours unless Mitchell has done time studies to indicate otherwise. Could someone look into this and make the changes necessary?

I'm going to pass this along to content support for estimating, but first....

Mitchell 1 has it broken down as 4.4 to 4.9 depending on A/C & 4WD considerations, I found their single 5.9 hrs listing. Where does AD ever say 8.0 hrs?

2004 Chev/GMC with VIN 1 and VIN 2 in Alldata Online. Thanks.

VIN 1 = 5.9 Hrs
VIN 2 = 8.0 Hrs

I took them out because it is somebody else's product. I looked them up myself as well. I'll share this with product support on your behalf.

Now that we have application as 2004 it's closer, this is what we have for 2004 Chev/GMC Dsl - Water Pump:

Hi Tim,

Alldata lists the water pump time from 2004 VIN 2 up to at least 2007 as 8 hours, when I stopped looking. I've already burned enough time trying to point out a mistake. They don't differentiate between 2 WD and 4 WD. Mitchell's time that you showed in your post isn't even the factory warranty time for this repair. 5.6 hours is leaving a lot of money on the table for this repair.

Thanks,

I was attempting to address your first post that indicated 4.6 hrs only.

It has been submitted and I will share the outcome.

I reread this and I can see where the confusion might have occured. I know the different engines, others might not. VIN 2, 6, D,...etc. were used from mid year 2004 on up. VIN 1's were used since the Duramax's inception, till early 2004.

The plot thickens; I rec'd a fax showing that currently AD on DVD is showing 5.9 Hrs on the VIN 2, conflicting with their web information. Seems like we were roughly on the same page until recently but then something changed. (their DVDs are updated once a year now)

We have already updated these figures; From editorial re: VIN 2 Diesel - Water Pump

This application has previously been corrected and will display in the upcoming scheduled (May 27, 2010) OD5.com product release which is currently in the QA process.

The Mitchell1 labor estimating times are as follows:
w/Air Cond …………………………… 8.2
w/o Air Cond ………………………… 8.0
