2007 Toyota RAV4 - V6 AWD Water Pump Time?

Needs a water pump (with only 39K  ), Mitchell says 19.7 hours, the "other guy" says 13.7!

Dealership told us, "no way", but of course didn't give us a time. Anyone do one of these, if so how long did it take (not what you charged, but actual time to replace the pump)?

By the by, there was a similar issue associated with replacing rear plugs on these, but we know you don't have to remove the engine, as Toyota says.

Thanks.

Supposedly it can be done without engine removal. Not sure how cuz I haven't been there yet. If anyone get do it, YOU can. :D

And yes, that time is for engine removal. I'd quote it like that and let the customer know it could be less.

That's the plan, but as this is a TOP notch customer, we are going to suggest getting Toyota to do it for her (we were told she'd have a good chance). Really, a water pump going in a Toyota at 39K. I'm tellin ya, Toyota has certainly fallen of their pedestal, in my eyes. :(

By the way, Mark spoke to another Toyota dealer and they confirmed engine does not have to be removed, but they still charge book, he said, "we consider these gifts from God". Oh yeah, and they all have plenty of these water pumps in stock - hmmmmm. :|

Dealer is taking care of it, at no cost to customer.

Customer was ecstatic, we found this before they went on a long trip, and that we recommended how they should handle it with the dealer. We may not have gotten paid this time, but I believe the way we handled it will pay us much more down the road.

By the way Ric, they live here in Marlboro, MA but for some reason bought it from a dealer up your way, in Nashua. Anyway, they are the ones taking care of them.

Right. Toyota of Nashua. Good people there. And they have good relationships with the aftermarket. We buy parts from them.

Good news all around. Customer for Life!!
