Google Maps integration

Post by RyDim81 »

Has anyone invented a report that I can run the would place my customers addresses over a Google map? We'd like to get an accurate map out of where our customers are coming from, so we can come up with a better marketing plan.

Thanks
Ryan

So here is what I did, I used the mail merge query in 6.5 to generate an excel spread sheet of customers. I then eliminated all columns in the spreadsheet except name, address, city, state and zip. I saved the file as a CSV (comma separated value) files. I then uploaded that data to Google fusion. The result is amazing, the red dots are customer addresses found in the data, you can click on any dot and will give you the name and address of that customer.: (Note: I only used a small sampling of data)

I got the point of excitement, then was DENIED. UGH. I got to this point and zero information highlighted. However, I will go back and work on it a little later. Looks like a great way to show a door knocking advertisement sales person we really don't need to run ads in LA.

If your data does not have a column highlighted in yellow, that means that the Fusion Tables weren't able to automatically pick a column that specified a location. To do this, click the Edit menu, then select Edit Columns. From here you will click on the column that holds your location data. After clicking, on the right you will see a drop down list labeled Type. Select Location from the drop down list, then click Save in the bottom left of this screen. After this, your column should be highlighted yellow.

Will retry, i had thought I did just what you had done and followed the links. Not a huge deal. Just think it may be handy at times to see just where your customer are located.
