TIP: Freight Charges
TIP: Freight Charges
OK, I am still new to this system, and have a question about freight charges. Where do you put them? As a sublet? As a non-taxable part? I haven't been able to find anything specific about this.
thanks.
thanks.

Re: Freight Charges
I personally put it in as parts if it was for a parts shipment. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Freight Charges
I agree with my colleague from New Hampshire, freight is listed in sublet.

Re: Freight Charges
In Minnesota I put it as a sublet, parts are taxable here, and it is easier to put it as a sublet than to take the tax off everytime I have a shipping charge.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Re: Freight Charges
thanks, all. That helps. I had definitely been leaning toward doing it as a sublet -- so this has helped make up my mind.

Re: Freight Charges
Sublet is a great tab. I list gasoline in it when i need to add fuel etc. As a rule all will go fine until 3pm on a Friday afternoon, customer swarming around the counter and the one you're dealing with discovers that they're being taxed on something that tax has already been paid on or gas is listed under labor and it isn't. They're not satisfied with anything but the "correct" way and obviously the order has been posted and the credit card has been run. By putting it in sublet allows a whole series of descriptions that are undefined to be used.
If i take a vehicle to a car wash, fuel, freight, detail, body shop, machine shop, remote starter, towing, basically anything i cut a check for with the obvious exception of parts goes into sub let.

Steven -- yes, that is what I have started to do -- gasoline, any sublet items that we initally pay for. Thanks for the info.
