2001 Saturn L200 - Fuel Smell FIXED

I HAVE A L200 THAT THE CUSTOMER WAS COMPLAINING OF A FUEL SMELL. SO I CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND REPLACED THE FILLER NECK ASSEMBLY BECAUSE IT WAS ALL ROTTED. NOW MY CUSTOMER IS STILL COMPLAINING HES SMELLING FUEL WHEN HE EXITS THE CAR. ANYONE KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE?

Aint sure but using your smoke tester should show any leaks. Have used mine on several occassions for just this kind of problem. Jeff.

Leak test. I had an altima someone cut the top of tank for some reason to get the fuel pump out? Leak test to see where smoke is coming from

Curious that you can smell fuel yet there are no evap leak codes. I'm inclined to think there may be a high pressure fuel leak somewhere. However, this year only runs an 040 leak, not the smaller 020 leak test. I suppose it's possible. Still leaning towards a pressure leak, though. :roll:

agreed. look for stains along the fuel supply system. for some reason i'm seeing a lot of rotted fuel filters. some have the look of "attempted" replacement on them while others haven't been touched since they came out of the box at the factory.
