What is the question?
How to fix it? Where to find gauges?

Doorman sells replacement clusters.
Uncle PETA said I could come back.

Re: 1992 New Yorker gauges
Just one piece of advice: Make sure that the gauge cluster is what's needed. They can't be returned once they are opened and plugged in. I have an OTC Gauge tester I use on every gauge before I order a cluster. Can't be guessing on this high priced stuff anymore.

But will a tester or Dorman work for a 1992? I don't do technical work and haven't looked, but can't testing information be found in Mitchell?

Re: 1992 New Yorker gauges
To answer the questions of diagnosis.
I just looked and yes Mitchell1 does have testing sequences and ohms checking which is what the OTC Gauge tester uses. So, I would say that diagnosis could be done on this unit. So far as the Dorman question, I am not sure if Dorman has a unit available or not.

Re: 1992 Chrysler New Yorker - Gauges
when i get a loss of bus signal i usually find it's a bad power point assembly or a bad computer.

Re: 1992 Chrysler New Yorker - Gauges
Had one of theese on an Imperial a year or so ago, would lose data bus to cluster, found that when bus went down it had battery voltage on it, finally traced problem to EVIC module behind grille (the wiring diagram called the location the vertical support), the wiring harness to the module had a bad ground connection and the module was backfeeding current through the bus. Good luck with it, these can be a nightmare.

Re: 1992 Chrysler New Yorker - Gauges
Will when all is working good i find then it has 2.13 volts on the buss + and when it goes out it is all ground. I will check and see if one of them are even on this car. I am finding out then they are a nightmare kind of wishing i did not take on the job.No other shop would take it on and i have done work for this guy before

from time to time we all find ourselves circling the "ring of fire". i can laugh now because i'm not in one but most likely soon will be.

So can anyone tell me where the buss + comes from. Does all the computers make up there own or just come from one of them

Each module will create their own signals on the CCD.

Re: 1992 Chrysler New Yorker - Gauges
don't get confused by a computer-module comparison. the module communicates with the computer at a specific level. each module has it's own language or level of communication. each time you disconnect the battery or something along those lines the "lost communication with bus" may go out but will usually come back on within a specific time frame akin to a check engine light. you mentioned loss of ground. this is the trigger for the module. if the dash is going flat, are you ready for this one? i've found that one of the best ways to tell if it's a cluster issue is to pound on the top of the dash board above the cluster. if it flickers or comes back to life it's a cluster issue. i learned this particular technique from my dad beating the t.v. when it went fuzzy just as joe capp threw the football
