HOW DID HE GET IT TO FINALLY START? KEEP CRANKING OR JUMP, OR 2+2?

Well, for me, a starting diagnosis would include a fuel pressure check and a scan tool hookup for pids and trouble codes. Without info from those two testing proceedures we are somewhat at a loss as to know what to advise.

stick of dynamite? just kidding, well maybe not but i would look into the fuel supply system. i believe these had an a.s.d. relay as well as a fuel pump one. i've done my fair share of intermittent no start issues with this model and the fuel pump is the culprit 75% of the time. i'll tell them right up it's a gamble with enough credible evidence to make it worth it.

they also have issues with the dist. keep it for a couple of days do the fuel gauge taped to the wiper thing when it acts up youll know how to address it if youve got fuel presure, of course ck spark next. ive put a lot of fuel pumps as well as dist. in 2.5 liter cars. good luck and let us know how it turns out 8) 8) 8)

WELL I WENT WITH PUTTING A FUEL PUMP IN WITH HOW OLD THE CAR IS AND EVERYTHING DID POINT TO IT. CAR RAN GREAT AFTER THAT WITH NO PROBLEM I KEPT IT FOR THE WEEKEND STARTED IT MONDAY GREAT NO PROBLEMS. CUSTOMER JUST CAME BACK YESTERDAY APPARENTLY ITS STILL NOT STARTING INTERMITTANTLY AND NOW IT SAYS SOMETIMES IN THE DISPLAY (NO BUS) AND ALL THE GAUGES WONT WORK. BUT OTHER TIMES ITS FINE AND GAUGES WORK WITH NO PROBLEM. ANYONE HAVE A CLUE ON WHAT THIS COULD BE?

no bus mess. on the cluster could very well be a cluster, bcm bus wires to or from any of the modules. pushed pin pwr or grd lose to a module. with a drb3 you can run a module scan when it acts up to try an isolate the problem. or with aftermarket scanners try and access the modules seperatly to see which ones are on the bus or the one that isnt.if it is the cluster unplug it see if it still acts up.

a real stretch here but disconnect the battery and clean the posts and cable ends. put a volt meter across the posts and if it reads under 12 volts replace the battery. it has to read 12 volts. not close enough.

not a stretch at all we all know if the battery gets below 9.6v modules will freek out there very well could be a internale short between the plates inside the battery. i was haveing an issue with a dodge diesel charging system the midtronics passed both batterys several times. untill a old timer came over had me remove the battery he literally just shaked the shi!!!!! out of it then guess what it fail. i replaced the battery no more issues. im not saying its the root cause but it is worth taking the time to ck. always start with the basics. 8) 8) 8)

well you cannt fix what aint broke. you will have to keep the car for a while use it as a dayly driver untill it acts up be prepared for when it does youll have to do some roadside diag. so keep a kit with you as far as what you might need, scan tool, flash light, 12 pack of beer, in my case i would probably make it personal. if had to go do anything thats what i would drive also you can do a wiggle test :D :D :D on the bcm or cluster to ck for a pushed pin or poor conection good luck 8) 8)
