As for the identification of the printer, it is one of those situations where different companies will label the same unit with their preferred name for sale purpose. Shop around.

So can I buy the printer and stuff from Mitchell without having to use all the Bolt on stuff?

I am wondering if I can buy the printer that you posted, or do I have to have Bolt on, I can not use bolt on because of my phone numbers being messed up, checked into it, but who know with the way my phone numbers are in my system who would get notices for what.

I am not sure if you know but even if your numbers are messed up in Manager you can still use Bolt-On. They give you the option to pick another number besides the cellualr number. Say for example the actuall cell number is listed under home and the home under cellualr. When you want to send a message it will default to the listed cell number which obviously would be incorrect however before sending the message they provide a "Switch Number" button you can click and choose any number listed under the customer file. FYI I had all my numbers messed up to a couple years ago. I have just been verifying with my customers one by one and correcting them as I went along. I am about 75% back to where it should be.

Mine pulls numbers from everywhere, had a patch for a bit, but went away. It might not even be the number for that customer. That is why once I found out how they do the reminders and stuff I could not go with them because it might be a totally wrong person.

As for the printer you purchase, you can get it anywhere, but if you are using Bolt On Software it needs to be a printer that we support.

That is crazy with the phone numbers. Sorry about that.

Ya good thing I know all my customers, I think I have them all straight again, but it still when you pull up a customers name will pull any number associated with that customer whether they are check marked or not. At least it is narrowed down now.

Alot of them are even amazed that I can list off their vehicles. We sent out over 500 Christmas cards this year to all our regular customers, I even personally sign each one. Our word of mouth referal rate is high.

We are using a Zebra printer for the Static Cling type oil change stickers. Bolt On Tech Support will help set up the whole Zebra printer program and can help custom design the sticker template that best suits your needs. Our stickers are custom made with our shop logo (in colour) designed by McCourt Label. They have a great website to create and submit your own designs. Visit www.oilstickers.com. Suppliers for the Zebra printers are somewhat hard to find in Canada, unless you're a TechNet shop. Those Static Cling Stickers can be purchased through CarQuest, but they have a TechNet logo on them instead of your own.

Our oil supplier used to supply us with a printer and stickers for nothing. We had such a issue with it messing up all the time and techs spending so much time printing stickers that we bought one from Bolt On and set it up. The printer is a Dymo 450 and it was only $99 so it was cheap. The cost of the stickers however is ASTROMOMICAL. We're looking to find some other stickers that will work so I can buy them online myself. No one from Bolt-on will tell me what they are so I need to do some investigating myself. I really like the lube sticker program other than the cost of the stickers.

The lubes stickers really look nice when they're new.... but do fade really bad. We used the Blue stickers suggested by Bolt on. They're extremely expensive and fade so we bought some other labels online. While they work they fade even more but I spent $8 per thousand instead of $140 per thousand. Does anyone know of a sticker that will work that's thicker? It seems the thickness effects the fading. We're going to keep looking for different options that are thicker and try those.

Some shops stack the stickers during the warmer months. The extra thickness seems to help.
Other shops print two stickers. One for the windshield, one for the door jam.

I had resigned myself to putting them on the door jambs. Took a while but I was able to get the customers to look there instead of calling and asking when the next service was due.

No offense John but the answer you gave is why I'm beginning to have less and less faith in the product. The product itself has great intentions. But we bought the product to provide a professional appearance. To give a solution to "Stack 2 stickers on top of each other" is pretty hokey. I love the digital inspections....however it just doesn't integrate well with mitchel. It's full of "work arounds" Maybe this is why Mitchel is beginning to integrate the lube stickers in Mitchel itself.
