Re: 1990 Buick ELectra Wiring
When I have any type of electrical / wiring issues where power windows, power door locks, speakers, door ajar light, etc I go right to the master switch and check if it's reversing polarity for that circuit and if it is peel back the rubber collar that goes between drivers door and vehicle. As a rul...

A couple of quickies
Had an issue with a '13 Ford Focus. Rear lights would go batty and send false messages to information screen. No rhyme or reason. Trunk would pop open, plate, parking and brake lights would act erratically. The updated harness was installed at dealer and other shops had runs at it. It finally arrive...

I've found Mitchell to be extremely accurate but always check fluid level no matter what. Everyone makes mistake including Mitchell and don't want a misprint to cost me an engine.

Re: Oil Fill Capacities
I refer to the fluid option on the work order page. I tag any I'm in need of and transfer to order. Obviously I know it's just a guide and not Gospel so I run and check. However, on the vehicles that there is no dip stick to check levels such as BMW's and other European vehicles I will go directly t...

Re: 2013 Ford Edge Programmed BCM; Windows Don't Work?
The only way I would put any responsibility on any of my customers is if they supplied the part or after debating with them about pad slapping and expecting perfect brakes. May or may not happen and depending on the customer and their past purchases I may warranty what I did only if they now agree t...

Re: 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan Blower Motor Resistor Failure F
Oh ya, one more thing. I've lost count of how many ground issues I've dealt with on these. About one third show up after the part or parts have heated up a bit from being turned on. A quick test is to grab, in this case the blower motor after it's been running a bit. If it's extremely warm or hot to...

Re: 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan Blower Motor Resistor Failure F
I'm getting sick and tired of mysteries. However why I'm doing what I do is a mystery in itself. As far as the aftermarket issue goes I'm finding more and more parts that are showing signs of installation or tag overs. In the past year I've been noticing a lot of re-boxed parts. They've always been ...

Re: 2008 Chevy Express 3500 - ABS / Stab Dash Lights On
If I were a betting man I would put money on a probe prick hole near the corrosion. The prick refers to both the harness and the idiot who put it there. I was taught a long time ago to lightly run my fingers along the harness feeling for any deviations. Usually it was an issue involving back probing...

Re: Dash Keeps Changing Language?
There may be a loose connector or plug causing a resistance issue. I've seen them and they raise hell with the dash. There was an issue with the clusters but I'm not sure when or what vehicles.

Re: 2013 Honda Pilot P1659
A few times, too few to mention, plugs have been plugged into incorrect sensors. Was key in the on position when battery was attached or key on, battery attached when sensors plugged in? This could cause a surge and wipe out the pcm. I would jump outside the go and look for spun ground lugs and sing...

Harness. I've tried over and over again to repair them with little or no luck. Replace it and be done with it.

Re: Codes That Turn On CEL
there are hard codes and pending codes. Some take three cycles of failures to turn on light and if this is an emission related fault while in pending it will pass most states emission inspections. There are times when we get a vehicle that failed emission testing with no lite on and we have to seek ...

It has been a long, long, time but dash needs to be removed. I barely remember being able to wiggle a few boxes out but wouldn't dare now. I would take both front seats out to give you room. This takes about 20 minutes and is a great comfort and time saver. Drop steering wheel from front brace, does...

Anything's possible but usually when I wiggle a coil or coil wire seeing a blue flash and ticking noise its shorting to ground. If by chance the plug has worked it's way out I carefully, and I mean with great care inspect the plug threads in the head. If they are worn more than likely the plug will ...

Re: 2011 Ford E350 - 6.8L Won't Run Monitors?
Is there an issue with the power source aka cig lighter? Also I believe there is a certain sequence a minor one but it needs to be fulfilled. I remember an issue we had with one of these and I believe we found the answer in the Ox heater circuit. I'll keep looking. My office is all ripped apart for ...
