Re: TABLETS
Can the Mitchell program be run on those tablets as another workstation? I just hired a counterperson, and am looking at adding a pc or something in the shop so I can look up parts etc in the shop and not have to keep coming up front. A tablet would be excellent for this! Nick, you can use the tabl...

Battery Recycle Fee [Texas]
How are you applying and tracking the state recycle fee associated with selling a battery. Are you using the "fee" button inside the actual part? Are you using a seperate GL code? Which report are you using to track how many per month are being collected?

Re: TABLETS
Adam, we've been using the tablet since I believe June. Its absolutely amazing. We still use our PC's for most of the service writing, but use the tablet and several Android phones for performing the inspections. We had a best summer in over 20 years. The customer's love it. You can set up Lube Stic...

Thank you Rich. Ric must really, really, really, really love the service you provide if he drives from New Hampshire to Michigan for an oil change.

Re: Quest For Best LOF Setup?
Thanks for the response Ric, as always. That's definitely food for thought. Its high time we start moving away from the way things used to be. Sure would make my inventory easier....LOL.

Quest For Best LOF Setup?
This is an old topic that I would like to revisit. Its 2014 and just about every other car that comes in takes more than five quarts. How do y'all have your canned jobs or LOF packages set up. We've never used the LOF package (no real reason, just never have). How do you account for the cars with fi...

Re: 6.4 Nexpart Part Transfer Problem?
I have to agree. I usually call my vender to see if they are having issues when this happens. They sometimes say "No we're not, oh wait a minute, yep we are". You've probably got this figured out by now, but thought I'd chime in.

Good perspective Steve. I appreciate it. I hope all is well with you, your family and staff. Hope the storm didn't get to you too bad. Hurricanes suck as I have been through many in my 40 years (30+ here in Houston).

Re: Battery Warranty?
i sell a lot of tba Hey Steve good morning and what the hell are you doing up at 1:53 in the morning responding to my dumb**s. I'm not familiar with what you were referring to in the quote above. How did you get Interstate to go along with the three year deal you were referring to. We are a platinu...

TIP: Battery Warranty?
I am revisiting an old post by me here. I would like to know how some of y'all are handling battery warranties. For example: John Q buys a battery 29 months ago. He comes in and we diagnose a bad battery. The battery is pro rated for 29 months, added to the invoice and the customer is billed for the...

Re: State Inspections
Ric I redid all my state inspections and man I love looking at my GP% on those. We need to do about 50 a day. I appreciate every bit of the help on this from all of you.

Re: State Inspections
Light bulb moment Ric. Make a canned job: sublet the sticker cost and retail. Then add a labor line with just labor cost built in. Am I on the right track?

Re: State Inspections
Thanks for the input Steve. It sounds like y'alls inspections must take a whole lot longer than ours do. We can average about 10-15 a day here. The initial investment is really high on the equipment [no doubt about it]. I definately think they are worth it though with the upsells and tandom work [LO...

Re: State inspections
Thanks Ric. How do I calculate the labor cost when checking GP? After kicking it around a while I came up with the sublet part, but labor cost has me stumped.

TIP: State Inspections GP%
Ok I looked through a cr*p load of posts yesterday trying to find an answer to this so I wouldn't bother anyone, but I couldn't find my answer. How do I make a canned job for a state inspection / emissions test. It needs to have a technician assigned to it and I need to be able to track the labor co...

Re: 03 mitsubishi galant gtz random misfire
Just a thought, but I assume its a 3.0L. Is this the same 3.0 that burns oil from the day its new? I remember the 3000GT's, Mini vans, etc that had it and they smoked and missed all the time. Not sure this helps, but thought I would through it out there.
