Re: Changing customer vehicles
I realize this is under "Using SE" which I am not. But, in 5.9 I delete the plate from the vehicle. Why do you need to associate the plate with the first vehicle, when it is now on another vehicle? This way, the vehicle stays with the customer, and if someone were to buy it from them and bring it t...

Re: ePart And SE 6.4 Intergration
Just to add to this. It appears the open order starts at the part transfer stage. I use epart with my main vendor (who rents space in our building). So I use epart to look up parts/pricing/availability and then transfer said parts. When I need the parts I just walk through the door and tell them wha...

Re: 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix - Code 128
I would agree. Every P0128 I have encountered, ended up being the thermostat. Not that you should shortcut the diagnostic process but that's what I have run into. I would just verify the CTS reading with a temp gun to make sure the CTS is accurate. If that's good, it gets a stat.

Re: 2004 Ford F350 - 6.0L EGR Cooler Hose
I have never seen the hose leak either, it is a very heavy duty piece with metal sleaves and o-ring seals, the hose part is heavy duty silicone hose. I can imagine that they were blown away at the price to change a hose!!! Well that's the interesting part about this truck. It doesn't leak all the t...

Re: How to Apply Partial Credits
We have done oil change promotions where the customer can purchase X# of oil changes at a discounted price. What we did was a coupon book that they purchased and then they could redeem the coupons when they had their oil changed. We would handle this coupon book the same as a gift certificate. Gift ...

Thank you guys for all the input and help. I'm more comfortable now, quoting this job with some knowledge of what to expect. I always hate quoting a job not knowing exactly what needs to be done. Now I can explain to the customer why a leaking hose takes a day to replace. Customer reaction = .

2004 Ford F350 - 6.0L EGR Cooler Hose
Looking for a little insight on this job as we don't deal with many diesels at all. The EGR cooler hose is leaking and we need to replace it. The rear clamp looks difficult at best to deal with as it sits under the turbo pedestal. Can this be done without taking the turbo off? How much time is invol...

Re: Handling Gift Certificates?
We have a seperate catergory for gift certificates. When we sell one we create an invoice using the GC part # tied to gift certificate category. This way you can accept any of your payment methods. Youn then can easily pick the certificates out of your sales by looking at the Cateegory Profit Summar...

Have you checked the charging system? I have had several vehicles with failed alternator diodes that would cause the lights to flicker.

What I have found when that number is out of an expected range, is that someone failed to enter the odometer reading or someone entered the odometer reading incorrectly (transposed numbers).

I like the idea. I also agree that we need to be able to turn it on/off or protect it in the Program Security Setup.

Re: 1985 Chevy S-10 High Idle
I had one similar to this several years back. It was the IAC. Any aftermarket IAC valves we tried would not bring the idle down correctly. After beating our heads we put in an OE and it worked like a charm. You say "The high idle eventually goes back to a more normal speed as the engine warms up." M...

Brakes, torque specs, starting and charging, firing order, belt routing, fuel system, air conditioning I'll second that. It's difficult to say which torque specs are more important to have at top. It really depends on the job I'm performing. What I would find beneficial is to have ALL torque specs in one...

Re: Bouncing Between Orders
Is it really so bad to hit Esc, highlight the other order needed and press enter to get it on the screen. It can be when building an estimate or order with parts links and then you have to close link, switch RO, deal with customer drop off/pick up, etc., now back to the estimate, re open parts link...
