Most of the post 2000 model BMW's only have the DLC-16 OBDII diagnostic connector.

We've seen this also. GM had a problem with the pumps, many of the affected pumps have made it into to core supply and the remanufacturers are using them. The shaft breakage seems to be more prevalent on vehicles with hydroboost, but the pump components fit nearly all GM truck pumps through the 90's...

If i remember correctly, a faulty camshaft position sensor would cause this issue.
