Update .. Customer has decided to pull vehicle and not do any further diagnosis or repairs to vehicle...So i can't test the vehicle or give a final answer to what might have been the problem...

OK Customer tried fixing car them self...Had #1 and #2 ,,plus #5 and #6 misfires.... He put new plugs and wires only...Found all these wires crossed....We routed all spark plug wires and pulled all plugs to check air gaps... Replaced plenium gasket (which) he left the old one on.. 2001 Mercury Sable - 3.0L Misfire
We have a 2001 Mercury Sable LS 3.0 DOHC.. with a idle misfire on #1 and #2.... Installed new coil,checked is working,,,zap....... Installed new wires and motorcraft plugs...also replaced intake plenium gaskets and egr gaskets.... Misfire goes away or is not felt when raising idle or rev up motor.. ...

The inner tie rod is 21 1/2 inches long.... no inner tie rod tool i have seen has that long of a reach... Plus there is a bolt on one side that is skin close to the tie rod so you cant slip anything over it.

Changed out PCM....Car works fine and everything back to normal... Pcm has a lot of corrosion around it, suspect water damage....Thanks everyone for your advise.....

Just double checked .. NO p codes set. Ran through system again with scanner the two number codes are in the antilock brake section...NO VIN # that I could find..

Using a Solus pro.. NO p codes anywhere.... Yes I agree only reman pcm is all we use...

OK headache car update...We checked all connections all appear ok..NO crossed wires.. Inspected for vacuum leaks at intake,none....Changed ECT sensor.. Car idles fine cold...But when gets close to operating temp, idle starts surges, up and down. Car won't idle...??????????? 500 rpm to 2100 rpm...

Ok we did everything as out lined in tsb with the bonus of raising front end,vacuum sucking coolant system and used a over the to radiator over flow.....

Ok list of other things we have checked. Heater hoses near engine are hot to touch try to hold them by heater core,fire wall warm at bests.
