Re: Network Problem - WS Finfing Host
Thank you, that is very helpful. I have had a professional look at it, I'm not exactly sure how much of this they did, but their solution did not fix the problem permanently. I am also in the process of replacing the host computer, so hopefully the combination of the two will solve this problem. Thi...

Network Problem - WS Finfing Host
We have had a problem with workstations unable to find the host computer for several years. Tech support blames the network, and i don't disagree. The thing that I don't understand is that if you ping the host computers IP address, it finds it just fine, however it will not find it by the computers ...

Re: 2002 GMC Sonoma 4.3 V-6 Codes
Agree watch rpm on scanner while cranking, just give the scanner a few seconds to update. Also compression test results? Suspicious that alternative fuel didn't help. I personally have not found very many bad vortec injector assemblies in my career, but maybe it's a "here" thing.

Re: Chevy suburban stabilitrak noise
Thanks Steve. It sounded like the noise was coming from the diff, like a carrier bearing. It didn't sound like a wheel bearing, because it didn't really change when turning the wheel and loading/unloading either side. That's what made me nervous. I don't need another project vehicle right now. I lik...

2004 Chev Suburban - Stabilitrak Noise?
Anyone had any bad experiences with the stabilitrak on @2004 chevy suburban. My wife and I test drove one last night, and it had a lot of front drivetrain noise. I have worked on a lot of these, but never one with the full time 4wd, they have always been regular 4wd. Just wondered if there were any ...

2003 Chev PU - Duramax Gray Smoke At Idle
We have a 2003 Duramax that is smoking at idle. Most that we have encountered previously have been really bad by the time they show up here, but this one is not bad enough yet to be as obvious of a diagnosis. 3 things jumped out at me in the data. MAF 37 gm/sec @ idle and air filter very dirty, Main...

2001 Jeep Wrangler - 4.0L Code PO132
We have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 that came in for a driveability issue / check engine light on. The codes were, and are, PO132 and PO138, which are both upstream and downstream O2 sensors shorted to voltage. When I monitor datastream, both O2's read 4.98 volts and 4.76 volts with KOEO, and after you...

If you guys ever get into a conversation about the loaner car thing, please post it as a topic. I think a lot of people would benefit from the conversation, including me.

Re: 1985 Chev K30 - Military Fuse Box?
Thanks Steve. I'll try googling monroe. If you get any contact info, that would be great. The truck is for sure military. I may have no choice but to wire in a fuse box, but a harness and fuse box out of one of these would sure make it easier. Thanks.

1985 Chev K30 - Military Fuse Box?
I'm searching for a fuse box and (fuse box)wiring harness for a 1985 Chevy K30, I believe the military # is a M1008. It has a 6.2 diesel. I have looked into wiring in a non-diesel, or non-military fuse box, but they are way different (haven't actually found a 1985 fuse box, 1986 is different, and 19...

I agree with Tim, look at desired VCT advance and actual. Also, try grounding the solenoids manually and see if the cam timing changes while monitoring it on the scan tool. Last one I had in, 2 shops said it needed phasers, they were referred here by their relative who is a customer. They didn't wan...

Think of the vacuum gauge as a "running compression tester". More of a dynamic, rather than static, test.

Re: 2003 Ford F350 - 6.0L Diesel Dies And Won't Restart; Fuel?
By the way, I ordered the tools next day air from Ford for the injector sleeve, and it is done and gone. After we removed, the old one, you could clearly tell that it had not been seated all the way when installed originally by the Ford Reman peoples. The sleeves are very easy with the right tools, ...

Re: 2003 Ford F350 - 6.0L Diesel Dies And Won't Restart; Fuel?
Ok, back to the 6.0 that I was talking about. Thursday, Ford Powertrain finally authorized replacement of # 5 (#5 is the one with the bad copper washer)& # 7 injector, and resealing #1 & #3 injectors. Parts showed up Friday. When I got to #7, and was cleaning out the injector sleeve, I noticed 2 tin...

Ok, this is why I never watched the shows like "24" ! Jack's about to get hit by a guided missile and then the show's over! What fixed these 3 vehicles? I haven't seen this yet, but it sounds like we will eventually.

Re: 2003 Ford F350 - 6.0L Diesel Dies And Won't Restart; Fuel?
Thanks for the help on this one. I thought using a Ford reman was a safe way to go, and so far they have been easy to deal with, but covered or not, customer needs his truck. We have used several of their 5.4L engines and several different Ford reman trannys with no problems, guess my luck just ran ...

Re: 2003 Ford F350 - 6.0L Diesel Dies And Won't Restart; Fuel?
Yes it is the copper washer on #5 injector. I isolated it to the right bank last night, then started pulling glow plugs to relieve compression while cranking. Definetly coming from cyl. 5. Pulled injector and found copper washer shaped like a horseshoe and split. I may have not been clear earlier, b...

Re: 2003 Ford F350 - 6.0L Diesel Dies And Won't Restart; Fuel?
This engine was replaced by us (Ford reman long block came w/ new injectors, oil pan etc.) 3 months and 3500 miles ago. Just for info. Ok, got truck running long enough to perform injector balance and found cyl's 1,3,5,7 not contributing as well as 2,4,6,8. Those cylinders (1,3,5,7) are all on the r...
