Re: More LOF packages & Categories

We use canned jobs as well for oil changes. A regular oil change is a set price for up to 6 quarts of oil. I still inspect how much oil every vehicle takes unless I know off the top of my head and write it on the tech worksheet or add price as necessary to the customer.Synthetic and diesel oil chang...

Re: VW Oil Consumption

"If it calls for a 0 or 5 viscosity you shouldn't put in anything higher. As we know a 5w-30 simply means basically a 5 weight oil with 30 weight qualities." This couldn't be further from the truth, the way they numbered the oils is really screwed up IMHO, the first number really has no relation to ...

Re: Chrysler Corp. Vehicles Like OEM Spark Plugs

I usually swap out Denso double platinum's in Chryslers without any issues and extend the 30k recommendation on the tune-up... Maybe I'm just lucky so far... I do generally stick to motorcraft for Ford, Delco for GM, and Denso for asians. Whatever WorldPac recommends for the Euro's is what they usua...

TIP: Gift Certificates

Does anyone offer gift certificates?

How do you setup mitchell for them?

I.E. how would you post the payment?

I can always apply a credit easily enough to the customer but more interested in showing the intake of funds in the first place.

Just wondering how others do it, Thanks...

Re: 2005 Chev Express 4.8L Odd Low Idle Problem

Fixed! Map sensor was giving intermittent faulty readings

still have no idea how the idle was changed with the IAC unplugged, and yes it was most certainly the IAC unplugged and not another sensor...

It does have an aftermarket throttle body/cable/pedal setup... no cruise control. Glad it is gone!

Re: 2005 Chev Express 4.8L Odd Low Idle Problem

I'm starting to think PCM too, but its so odd that you can command a higher or lower idle with the scanner, WITH the IAC UNPLUGGED, I can't seem to grasp that concept.. maybe it is changing the timing on me?

Re: 2005 Chev Express 4.8L Odd Low Idle Problem

I do have the IAC tool, the motor is working properly when I command it to. when it is working right/cold, I'm at 144 for IAC count, idle is 500 right now It'll drop down to about 410 when it warms up, and it is still requesting a 550 or 500 and will not adjust to it. If you rev it etc and let the i...

2005 Chev Express 4.8L Odd Low Idle Problem

Ok I need some help obviously... 2005 Express van with a 4.8L v8. This is not a factory optioned vehicle, I.E. it does not have the electronic throttle body system that is so common with these engines, it still has an old school throttle cable and idle air control motor. Low idle, constant stalling....

J2534 to install a new Ford PCM?

Has anyone used a J2534 pass through programmer to install a new Ford PCM, or is this something that can only be done with the Ford IDS scan tool? I have only used J2534 on GM products for new computer replacement or reflashing software updates.... I search online and the information is very vague, ...
