Re: 2005 Chev Trailblazer - Radio Troubles

Can't help with that question, sorry. Sounds like it would be easier just to take it to a local dealer you do business with.

Re: 2006 VW Jetta - 2.5L No Start

Sounds like an Anti Theft issue or power problem. Look and see if the power modules have become dislodged. Way to many times a minor off the road issue turns into something way larger. If it wasn't towed by you then I would contact the towing company and get their view of how minor. I do know that i...

Re: 2005 Chevy Trailblazer Radio

May go beyond a Radio issue. In fact I would be shocked if it didn't. First I would check all the fuses is all the power distribution boxes. Without looking into this in depth I believe the Radio may be tied into the Anti Theft Module. I would try Direct Hit if it were in my shop but I'm leaning tow...

Re: 2007 Honda Element EX - Get Inner Tie Rods Off?

After you removed it did you see any other way to do it? Sometimes when we have a job like yours where we think there should be an easier way but see none we discover something during the removal or installation process that gives us an idea. Right now my front end suspension and steering repair sal...

Re: 2007 Honda Element EX - Get Inner Tie Rods Off?

Sorry for the late reply and hope it's done but I made a tool out of a pipe wrench. Removed almost the complete handle, shaved the head down a bit, made a steel sleeve that fit nice and snug to the remaining portion of the handle and welded a beat up impact socket (3/4) to it and away I go. I've had...

Re: 2007 BMW 530I - Brake Light On

Glad to see some activity from other members. Glad to see it was resolved quickly. Not glad to see it was a defective part. Don't know about other shops but I'm starting to loose that good old feeling about OEM. I'm opening boxes from dealerships and finding already used parts, broken and incorrect ...

Re: 2005 Ford F350 5.4L Variable Camshaft Issue

I believe my Snap On Scanner will allow us to see exactly what the readings are. Just beware, the PCM will make adjustments trying to work around any drivability issues sometimes clouding diagnostics. The multiple misfire code most likely happens going down hill after climbing up. I can't sat with 1...

Re: 2005 F350 5.4L Variable Camshaft Issue

Not 100% sure but I believe if you take out the VVT sensors you may find some metal filings in the screen. Usually we run the truck until it's reached operating temp and trying not to get any contact burns remove the pressure control solenoid's, flush the pressure ports with solvent and air pressure...

Re: What Brand Injectors for Duramax?

The OEM injectors I've used have all seemed to fail more frequent than I would like. I've found life expectancy to be around 70K. Another thing is make sure the old injector bottoming seals are removed and new ones used. If you drop a new one and can't find it don't even consider for a second to use...

Re: What Brand Injectors for Duramax?

Knowing what I know about the OEM injectors if the 05's are the same as the 04's I would use the ones from Jasper. Another point here is there is a newer fuel filter housing with a back flow preventer on it eliminating any rough running or stumbles during the first few minutes of driving. If there h...

Re: What should a 2001 Ranger have for parasitic draw?

Be sure to explain to the customer that the Keep Alive Memory will pull it down over a period of time. Solving the excessive draw may give it another week or two but not months on end.

Re: 2000 Olds Bravada - Runs Rough Until...

A bit late on this but I would run a jumper wire from positive post or jump start lug straight to main feed at alternator and see if this eliminates issues. Assuming that the battery lug or stud shows 12 volts and it resolves the issue I would look for a blown fuseable link. The battery may be the c...

Re: 2007 MALIBU BRAKE SYSTEM

Master cylinder would do this but before I started tossing more at it I would want a complete history. Have you been exclusively working on this or has it been somewhere else? If the customer had been complaining about a low pedal at another shop and they thought of "adjusting" the booster push rod ...

Re: 2005 Toyota 4Runner - Rear Window

Sorry I wasn't part of this. Was up to my ears with "fun" stuff. Isn't it amazing how we miss obvious resolutions from time to time. Personally, if I were to pen all I've run across it would make War And Peace look like a three chapter short story. It seems the longer between "incidents" the more di...
