Re: 2003 Cadillac DHS - U Codes

Thanks for the input. I had to drive this thing for 25 miles to get it to act up. When it did the whole dash lit up. The charge light is on. The a/c quit working as well as the fuel and temp guage. The trac lite is on, stability control, air bag, and power windows in the front are intermittant. The ...

Re: 2003 Cadillac DHS - U Codes

So what you are saying Ric is that you do not think that this is an issue with a bad relay or power supply to the modules. Would that make sense or would it effect more than four modules.

I saw that also but it appears that it will set a code for "Control Module Malfuntion" before the module has to be replaced.

1999 VW Jetta GLS - Air Bag Code 01226

Had a 99 Jetta GLS in last week that was hit on the left side center and exploded the drivers side air bag and seat belt pretentioner. I replaced the seat and seat belt assembly and reset the codes. I could not get code 01226 to reset. The code is for "crash data side air bag drivers side stored". A...

Re: Cleaning Headlamps

Thanks for all the great input. I agree with Steven. Never give them a reason to go to another shop. Never, never, never. Did I say never?Sounds like $75.00 including the materials is about the going rate. I just used the kit and the lights turned out great. :D Only took about 20 to 30 minutes. This...

Cleaning Headlamps

What is a fair price to clean frosted headlamps? Have not done it before but have a customer that has a pair that are really fogged up. The kit is $20.00 from 3M. Do I charge for the kit or a set price for the procedure? The kit is supposed to do one car but after cleaning these I think I can get 2 ...

Re: Chrysler TPMS

GREAT INPUT! I was able to take care of the isuue with the light but it cost me in time and frustration. I agree that you must address the customers problems or loose them. I found that out years ago when customers would inquire if we fixed foreign cars. My thought process was that if they had a for...

Re: Chrysler TPMS

I have not purchased a tpms tool cuz my scanner is supposed to cover all of this. Sad to say that it is becoming clear that this is just another empty promise. (Maybe I should not be saying this) But sometimes you have to tell it like it is. Over all the years of independent repair I hate to imagine...

Chrysler TPMS

Had an 05 Chrysler Town and Country in for various repairs one of which was a tpms light. Replaced the faulty sensor and drove as Chrysler recommends for 10 to 15 minutes at above 15 mph. (Got pulled over once for going too slow and driving on the shoulder.) :( After informing the nice police office...

Re: New Engine Break In Period - How Long?

Don't know if any of you have ever done this but when I attened Dunwoody they recomended W.O.T. up to 2500 to 3000 RPM. in second gear. Then let up on the gas and coast down to idle RPM. Do this three or four times and you are set. This will put pressure on the rings and then load them with oil. I h...

Re: 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan - Pwr Steering Noise

I cannot count on both hands the number of resevoirs I have replaced on these. When I worked at Chrysler everone told me I was nuts, (which I am) but Replacing them was fixing the problem. After that everyone was replacing them. I have at times used my Vacuum pump to make sure all the air is removed...

2009 Nissan Rogue - Transmission Issues

Got a call from a regular customer stating that when they try to accelerate onto a highway that the R.P.M. is very high and acceleration is very poor. If they pull over and shut it off and restart the engine all is fine. I have not had the opportunity to look at the car and pull codes but I am tryin...

Re: 1990 Buick Le Sabre - Blower Problem

Steve....In all due respect the module is the resistor as this car has automatic temp control. The new motor rus drawing 10 amps when it wired direct to power. Funny thing was I had full speed from the old motor and it sounded fine. I will never make this mistake again. Thanks for all the input.
