Re: Lincoln LS - 3.9L V8 Dead Miss On #1
The 351 wont come back, but it's got to be the pcm. I've been thru everythin else. I guess it just wont switch under load. I let yall know how it turns out. It belongs to a car lot, so I don't know if theyll go for it or not.

Re: 2005 Chev K2500 - Duramax Engine Noise
Am I understanding right that in 05 you would lean towards a bad injector as opposed to a mechanical issue? Wouldn't a malfunctioning injector tend to create somewhat of a miss? Not always. He said himself that the noise goes away when you take the fuel away. Of course that could happen with a mech...

Not on an LLY. LB7 ('01-'04) only.

Re: 2005 Chev K2500 - Duramax Engine Noise
Oh, and balance rates all go to zero if you rev up the engine. Might freak you out if you didn't know. I would bet that it is not a mechanical engine problem. A fuel problem on these can hammer pretty good sometimes.

Re: 2005 Chev K2500 - Duramax Engine Noise
You need to look at a few things with your scan tool. First look at the injector balance rates. Some should have a positive or a negative value. Zero is perfect. Usually the injector with the problems will be pretty far out of whack with the others. You can ramp up the fuel pressure in functional te...

On the ones I have seen the OBD plug is right beside the round heavy duty plug under the dash somewhere above the accelerator pedal.

Re: 2003 Chev C4500 - Duramax Codes?
Should be able to use an OBD-II plug and if the VIN entry doesn't work, just enter it for a 3500 pickup. That's what I do on my MODIS when a 4500 or 5500 comes in. Never used a Genysis.

Lincoln LS - 3.9L V8 Dead Miss On #1 FIXED!
Has a p0351 history code. I have checked the brown wire back to the pcm. Of course it was good. Checked the green wire back to the transformer. Good. Ran the test where you unplug the coil, jump between the terminals with a test light. Test light flashed. Looked kinda dim, so I went to a good cylind...

Re: 1992 Mustang - No Data? Fixed I guess
Guy called me yesterday and is ecstatic. He is confident the car is fixed and wants to bring it back for me to reinstall the oxygen sensors that I recommended. So I guess the EGR was the problem. I have no idea why it was opening, but given the past history of this car, and it's value, it's not wort...

Re: 1998 Ford F150 - 4.2L P0306 Misfire
Have you run a leakdown test yet? Had a 3.0 Ranger give me fits because I was overlooking the simple stuff. Had leaky valves. They were recessed badly. Another shop in town had supposedly reworked the heads 6 months prior. Found this out later. May not have anything to do with the other codes...

Re: 1992 Mustang - No Data?
Yeah, I know. The real complaint was for the smothering issue, so I figure as long as I have fixed that, I have won. I didn't hear from him today, and I made him pay me for 2 hours of diagnostics before he took the car so I'm sure he'll call if it does it again.

Re: 1992 Mustang - No Data?
Yeah, I would much rather work on newer stuff. I have found out that just about every shop in town has worked on this car, and every sensor, the fuel pump, regulator, and even the pcm have been changed. I found that it has no oxygen sensors. I guess somebody figured they weren't needed. I did someth...

Re: Duramax Fuel Pump - Where?
I know this post is kinda old, but just for future reference, it will not harm anything by putting an electric transfer pump on this truck. Just make sure it flows enough. I use a Carter p4600hp on mine. You probably did have a leak. Most of the time it is the plastic bleeder screw on top of the fil...

Re: 1992 Mustang - No Data?
The orange wire is grounded. The sensor was clean, but read 4.5 K ohms. I'm assuming that is too much. Waiting on a replacement to get here now from slow'reilly CB didn't have it.

Re: 1992 Mustang - No Data?
Is the air charge sensor a two wire black plastic sensor that threads in between the 5 & 6 injector? What does this sensor do? Is it basically an IAT sensor? I guess I'm gonna scope the maf and the fuel pump which was my first thought when he told me the symptoms. What a dumb idea to have a fuel inj...

Re: 1992 Mustang - No Data?
I don't even have an option. Just codes menu, functional tests, super star II mode, and troubleshooter. Customer complaint is engine smothers out intermittently. Fuel pressure is good. The car runs kinda rough and black smokes a little when you get down on the throttle after its been idling. Hard to...

1992 Mustang - No Data? Fixed I guess
I'm working on a 92 Mustang GT. I don't work on too many non OBD II vehicles so bear with me if this is a stupid question, but why can't I find any engine data? I have a Snap-on Modis.
