Re: 1998 Chev K2500 - 7.4L Miss Under Load
Found it on the scope. Number 6 and 8 had a difference in the secondary pattern during the misfire. It was hard to see in the screenshot I posted. I changed the scale to 15kv and it showed up nice. I'm not good enough with secondary patterns to pick out a problem. I have to look for variations betwe...

Re: 1998 Chev K2500 - 7.4L Miss Under Load
Think I found it. Lifters were sticking, which was holding the valves open slightly. It was hard to find because there was so much wrong with this truck. New lifters are coming. Maybe I'll get em put in tomorrow.

Re: 1998 Chev K2500 - 7.4L Miss Under Load
Its a manual transmission. Its a definite misfire. It will cough sometimes. It will also do it if you accelerate lightly. About 2000 to 2200 rpm it will miss and sputter. I cant believe I cant find this. Normally this is my strongest area.

2001 Cad Deville - Engine Noise
Customer complaint of an intermittent noise from right front wheelwell. He brought the car by last week and I did a quick walk around and heard a real faint tapping. I was real busy so I made him an appointment for a few days later. I got the car now and I can hear a real faint noise that sounds lik...

Yes. The other PIDS could be helpful too. Check the FICM relay too. I think it could have a problem and never throw a code.

Re: 2005 Ford F250/6.0L Hot Start
What was ficm volts when the no start was happening? Only thing left that I can think of to cause a no start with no other symptoms, unless maybe a pcm issue but that would be a new one for me. Find a loaner FICM if you can.

Re: 1998 Chev K2500 - 7.4L Miss Under Load
I do need to look at the cap better. Its new, but.... I dont think current ramping will show a fuel supply issue. I ran a injector balance test also. It seems as if it runs rich going by the O2's during the misfirin Making me think its a timing issue. Timing chain supposed to be here tomorrow mornin...

Re: 1998 Chev K2500 - 7.4L Miss Under Load
I current ramp tested all the injectors. When setting the retard I did have trouble getting it to settle on 0. Always wanted to go to -1 or +1. I think that was due to the timing chain slack.

Re: 1998 Chev K2500 - 7.4L Miss Under Load
Timing chain has some slack. Not sure if its enough to cause a problem but I guess we will see. Can that cause the no learn situation? Seems like I keep finding problems but none help the symptoms. Makes me look like I'm guessing at stuff, but I can easily put my hands or eyes on all these problems.

Re: 1998 Chev K2500 - 7.4L Miss Under Load
OK, double checked the dist gear (looks new). Found the "new" tps was shorted causing the ref volts to be low. Fixed that, but no change. Cant get that ckp glitch to show up again, so I guess that was a freak thing. Still wont crank variation learn. Gotta be related to the miss.
