Re: 2003 Ford Explorer - 4.6L Timing Chain Issues?
I checked it with a 100 psi pressure transducer on my modis. I'm using 5w 20. This engine looks nice inside too. I checked the pressure at varying rpms. especially close while the noise was going on. Right now I have no belt or anything on the engine to interfere.

Re: 2003 Ford Explorer - 4.6L Timing Chain Issues?
oil pressure is about the same on both heads, maybe a couple pounds more on the driver side. I checked it at a 1/8 npt plug at the front on the pass rear on driver. Just got done doing that.

Re: 2003 Ford Explorer - 4.6L Timing Chain Issues?
I just finished putting in a new oil pump, no change. I found no metal in the oil pan or filter. I did notice that the passenger side tensioner felt like it had oil inside. I had to push real hard on it to get it to release. Driver side felt springy. Just the same as it did when i took it out of the...

Re: 2005 Ford Ranger - 3.0L Misfire
What did you find? I have had quite a few of these have real bad valve recession. Also had one that had been to every shop in town. Heads reworked, a bunch of stuff. Anyway, it ends up here. Running rich on one bank. After much diagnostic time, I found that one shop had put in the wrong fuel injecto...

2003 Ford Explorer - 4.6L Timing Chain Issues?
Car came in with a noise under acceleration. Sounds almost like a heat shield. I checked all that and found nothing. Pulled oil pan and found a piece of plastic. I knew then it was a piece of the timing chain guide. found passenger bank chain loose. Replaced guides and tensioners. Still have the sam...

It would surprise me too, but maybe all the carbon had the oil rings stuck????? It could happen I guess.

Re: 2005 Chev Silverado 3500 - Coolant Leak
Make sure its not the water pump. Its usually kinda hard to pinpoint when it leaks. The fan blows water around everywhere. It is not behind the fan. Its gear driven and located on the lower left front of the engine. Also, I have had problems with the o-ring on the steel portion of the upper radiator...

Re: 2004 GMC C5500 - Trying To Get ABS Codes
Yes the flow switch is the switch you speak of (which is new). The electric pump works just as it's supposed to. I assume the flow switch works because if you hit the brakes when the engine is off, the pump turns on. I tried jumping the brake fluid level switch and it didn't help either. I want my t...

Re: 2004 GMC C5500 - Trying To Get ABS Codes
I tried one guy, but I'm not convinced he knew what he was doing or that his tool was working right. I may just have to get the dealer to do it for me, but like I said, I have a few customers with these and it doesn't look good when I can't do it myself.

Re: 2004 GMC C5500 - Trying To Get ABS Codes
Well its actually both. It has a hyroboost setup with an emergency electric pump. If there is a fault with that you get the red brake light and the annoying chime. The orange ABS light was on long before that one came on. I just bought this truck about 2 weeks ago, but I have been doing all the work...

2004 GMC C5500 - Trying To Get ABS Codes
I know this is a medium duty truck, but it has an OBD II plug. I can enter VIN into my MODIS as a 3500 and get engine/trans codes no problem. This particular truck is my wrecker, but I work on about 6 of these trucks and brake faults are common, so I need to be able to do this. I have tried on anoth...

Re: 2001 Infiniti I30 - O2 Sensors Flatlining
Well, I think the customer took it to somebody else. I had my secretary/wife call her to see if I could get it back to do some more checking and she said that it wasnt acting up any more (strange, because she called me every day for about two weeks when I didn't have time to look at it). She's one o...

Re: 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 - 5.9L Dsl Low Power
Check to make sure you got the fuel lines mega tight where they go into the head. If not, there can be a leak between the connector tube and the injector. It leaks into the return so you wont see it. Put actual rail pressure and desired rail pressure on a graph and watch it during the low power cond...

I wrote down what I did on a piece of paper and put it in my filing cabinet in case I run into that again. Been running into some strange stuff here recently. Wonder if my shop is haunted?

Re: 2000 Ford F150 - Programming Keys FIXED
Dont really know what i did to fix it, but.. Took it to the dealer yesterday, they tried three times with no luck, I bought some new keys (the keys I had didn't have ford or any numbers at all) still no luck. I tried it again this morning with my pass thru and it was successful at resetting the PATS...

2000 Ford F150 - Programming Keys FIXED
Trying to use my pass thru pro II to program the keys. The owner took it upon himself to change the ignition switch and keys. He messed up the transceiver (which I have already replaced). He speaks very little english so I cant get the full story. Anyway, when I go into pats fuctions in the F...

Re: Ford 6.0L Diesel - Resurfacing Heads FIXED
Gl with them 6.0L's I'm actually happy when one comes in. I've gotten pretty familiar with them and the customer usually is prepared for the worst and is not surprised when the thing breaks down again. They don't try to link the next breakdown back to me. I get to make some pretty good money on the...
