Re: 2005 Toyota RAV4 L P0442
Here's how I tackle these.... First a visual inspection. Then I actuate all the solenoids with the scan tool. If all click I command the vent valve closed and pressure it up with a smoke machine. You need a machine with a flow gauge to catch these 'small leaks'. So........how exactly did he check e...

2005 Toyota RAV4 L - P0442
Disclosure - I am not a tech. First pulled P0442 a couple of months ago. Cleared it, sent customer on her way. About a month ago, P0442 came back with P0456, customer was in a rush (she said she couldn't come back for a week or so), we ordered her a new gas cap, and replaced it on 8/20. Light came b...

Re: Bosch O2 sensors
For what it's worth (A - I'm not a tech, B - almost 70% of the vehicles we see are Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura) and the guys tell me we use Denso only, which they say are OE (what do I know? I just pay the bills :? ). I do know we get them from Worldpac whenever possible, at a huge savings, we make...

Voted yes, because I set one up a while ago, but wished I hadn't. Not a "fan" of FB (pun intended) or "social media" in general.

Re: 2008 Acura TSX GPS/Radio/A/C Screen
Is the new one that much longer or just your cover story? Do you ever play surround audio discs in yours? That's my story, could actually be true, our house was built in 1925, but the fact that I can get her TSX and my Highlander both in at once... But, that's my story, and I'm sti...

Re: 2008 Acura TSX GPS/Radio/A/C Screen
Tis a geeky thing. It might even be the firmware that runs the screen is corrupted or needs to be updated. That's either delivered by disc or some other means. Again, an exchange program probably keeps dealers out of trouble. Probably only a dealer tech knows why this happens for sure. Yes, ...

Re: 2008 Acura TSX GPS/Radio/A/C Screen
Thanks everyone. It's my wife's car, and of course the GPS worked fine all weekend. What does not work, are any of the other functions. As I'm sure Tim knows, all the other audio and A/C functions are touch screen controlled. Well, whenever we try to bring any of those functions up, WHEN the screen ...

2008 Acura TSX GPS/Radio/A/C Screen
Gone dead. Radio and everything else (sans GPS) still work, just blank screen.
Local dealer says they pull it out (for around $350) then "send it out" for repair, and charge customer whatever the fix is on top of the $350. Claim they have no idea what exactly "the fix" is.
Anyone come across this?

Re: Changing customer vehicles
I realize this is under "Using SE" which I am not. But, in 5.9 I delete the plate from the vehicle. Why do you need to associate the plate with the first vehicle, when it is now on another vehicle? This way, the vehicle stays with the customer, and if someone were to buy it from them and bring it to...

Re: 1996 Honda Accord - 2.2L DTC P1491
Mark (tech in our shop) says, if you are 100% sure the ports are all clean, then it's the EGR valve, I guess that sensor is part of it?? What do I know? I just answer the phones.

Re: 2005 Mazda 6 - 2.3L PCV Replacement
There are a fair amount of newer Mazdas (not sure what year and models) that the "engineers" were kind enough to put a hole in the undercarraige cover, so the oil filter/cartridge could be accessed without removing the cover. Um, one little problem, it's about six to 10 inches away from said filter/...

Re: MORE Catalog
All you have to do once a dealership becomes "Active" is to send in an order, but tell them to disregard the order and to set up your shops pricing. We now have one Honda, Nissan, Chrysler, and two Acuras.

Re: MORE Catalog
We signed up last week. The rep told me the dealers have to pay, that is why it's taking a while to get them "active". So far, for actives we have a Nissan, Honda and I just got an email this morning we have an Acura, all very close by. Although, the Honda and Acura dealers are not showing our cost,...

Re: Print Two, One For Customer Signature?
In defense of the re-torque disclaimer, there are some manufacturers that state you should do this. I only discovered it when doing some research on this subject yesterday. My Ford dually has those flat style nuts that are torqued to 150 and it says right in the procedure to retorque after a certai...

Re: Print Two, One For Customer Signature?
This is how my note reads, I have it pre printed in notes under the drop down and tell the customer about it. -------"Re-torque lug nuts after first 100 miles of driving. Stop back and we'll do it free! Failure to stop back removes shop from liabilities and damages if wheel falls off or comes loose...

Re: 1998 Subaru Forester - AWD Binds & Vibrates
wow, a 1998 with oe tires on it. are they dry rotted? Why I oughta... I hear you, but we do have quite a few customers with these vehicles and only a couple are experiencing this issue. And, believe you me, the tire configurations on some of them are, um, not so good, if you know what I mean.

1998 Subaru Forester - AWD Binds & Vibrates
We have a 1998 Subaru Forester S, automatic, during slow turns the AWD binds and vibrates. We had another Forester doing the same thing a while ago, changed differential fluids, problem did not go away. Anybody else seen this, and if so what did you do?

Re: 2000 Nissan Maxima - Quit, No Spark
Just my thought here, I'm not a tech, don't play one on TV, and even if I had the knowledge the hands just couldn't do it. Anyway, we had a 99 about five years ago, same thing and the guys couldn't figure it out, ended up thinking it was the computer, had it towed to the dealer - key needed to be re...
