Groups
What do you guys use "Groups" for under the Customer tab -> Market -> Group #1, Group #2, etc?

Re: Groups
Yah, I looked it up with info from your first post. Guess I had never seen it B4, and I was at a loss as to what it was for.

Re: Groups
There's a video about it, but I'm still not clear as to how it could potentially be useful in our shop. Just trying to use the software to its fullest.

Re: Groups
This might be big for us to use, we do jobs from CEP which is all state funded ( non taxed ) but if we can put in the customer info like normal but select Group and have CEP and have it so its tax exempt that would be great.
Not exactly sure if that's what the Group would do?

Re: Groups
The Group setup was added a long time ago and has not really been developed any further. It has nothing to do with customer settings or tax status; it was designed as marketing to customers based on their group affiliations.

Re: Groups
Dang, well is there a different option so I can place Customers under thing like CEP and have it tax exempt for future jobs?timbre4 wrote:The Group setup was added a long time ago and has not really been developed any further. Re: Groups
You have the capability now to define any customer record to be non-taxable as well as all their vehicles or some portion of their vehicle records.

Re: Groups
Yeah I know how to do that part of it, but is there a way other than putting these customers under something Called CEP so I know they're connected? Could put CEP as Company, but only can have 1 person under last name/first Name.timbre4 wrote:You have the capability now to define any customer record to be non-taxable as well as all their vehicles or some portion of their vehicle records.

What kind of group affiliations did you guys have in mind when this was originally developed?timbre4 wrote:...it was designed as marketing to customers based on their group affiliations.

Re: Groups
If you open the Groups Setup screen you'll see what we populated it with back then.

...mine is empty? (We inherited our database from another company two years ago whose owner passed away and we took over, so, not all is 'factory.')

Interesting Ric. Thanks Tim.
Ric, do you actually use these? If so, exactly how? I mean, what steps do you take in the software to put these to use? Also, do you use them in SocialCRM?

Re: Groups
We set them up a decade ago. The idea was to get a better view of who are best customers were, but as Tim says it's never been developed much so there's little reporting available. With 5.9 I used to do mine own queries. We seldom use them anymore.
