Wouldn't it be awesome to have messaging between workstations/users? Some techs/service advisors/managers are far apart from each other or separated by walls seems like it would be a good option. Even the ancient shop management systems from the 90s we used to use had that option! 8)

+100K and (what ever the national debt is)

I would LOVE this.

I remember a customers name......Boss has blank look on face. I shoot him the customer name.... so many handy ways this could be used.

You can have that today using Message Manager (text messaging) which is part of Propack. This is a third part integrated solution for texting, reporting and lube sticker printing. If you need or want some of those features, you may want to look at it. You can chat with the whole team at once or to individuals. Message bubbles pop up on workstations and notifications on tablets if you opt for Mobile Manager.

So we have text messaging in shopkey. Can we use it to communicate workstation to workstation? If so, how? When I try to send a text to our dedicated texting number it says it's not allowed.

MessageCenter from M1/SK doesn't support this; MessagePro from BOT does.

Will this ever be a part of the "normal" Manager SE program, or just in "upgrades"?

MessageCenter is established with it's own product codes, etc. The current promo is $29 purchased with new Manager SE subscription and $39 month as a later add-on. This is the plan for now for the near-term at least.

We have been using MyChat - it is free for up to 20 users. It is all hosted on your computers.
It's been working pretty good so far. You can either chat with individual or send a message out to the whole group.
