According to the repair info, ( can't remember if it is on Mitchell or Identifix) if there is metal in the inlet of the IPR the pump needs replaced. They are such common to fail that the dealer keeps three of them in stock. This is my first deal on one of these. I mostly work on cars and light trucks but one of my good accounts has three of these trucks so I need to know how to do anything that comes up on these. I hate to sub-let work or send them somewhere else. One thing I found is that you do not have to remove the turbo inlet pipe from the manifolds, you can leave it in place and take the cover off the high pressure pump. Just finished taking it apart and it isn't a big deal. As far as it being leakage, I hope NOT, all the seals on the pipes are new. When I took the pump out I covered the outlet hole and turned the pump then filled the new onew with oil and done the same on it, I noticed a big differance in the amount of oil that it pushed past my thumb( I know this is not much af a test, butI was curious). got to do someother things the rest of the day, will try to get back on it in morn and let yall know how it goes. I also have a few pics of the repair process that I will post to help everyone know what is involved in this apperantly common repair. I know the fear of the unknown was the worst part of this, so far that is!!!!

Doing a VGT solenoid on one tommorow for a surge. Dont have any cool pics! boost gauge jumps around and it surges at lite throttle. You can watch it on the scanner and it is allover the place

This truck was doing that a while back and he had replaced the solenoid and it didn't fix the problem. I took the air inlet hose off and the turbo shaft had play in it and I could move it up and down in the housing, not enough to make the fins touch, but you could see the play. He replaced the turbo and it fixed it. Just finished mine and it started in under 15 seconds of cranking, as soon as it hit 450 psi it fired right off.
