Last week we had had an 02 Lexus SC430 here (nice car) with a dead TPMS sensor in one of the tires. Should have been no big deal. We use a Modis to access TPMS info. For whatever reason on this car we couldnt register the sensor into the module. There wasnt even a place in the Modis to do this. We had to take the car to our local Toyota dealer and even they had a hard time with it. Today we have an 07 ES350 and the Modis has a place to register the sensors. So, before you quote a price on a Lexus, check to see if your scanner can register the sensors.

Yup. The older Toyotas and Lexus vehicles needed the factory tool. I heard that the Bartec 400 did them also. It's a PITA because you can't just register one. You need to do them all at once, which means you need the numbers off all of them. Before starting, I copy all the numbers down from the scanner, then replace the offending sensor. I cross that number off the list and add the new number. Then I register all of them and initialize. They got better and the newer models are less involved.

Shraeder makes a tool that does it all (even Toyota). We purchased 2 from NAPA. Make sure you buy the optional ALDL adapter so that it can access the onboard systems.

If you're talking about the 21230, I think Bartech makes it for them (or vice-versa) because it looks just like the Bartech 300plus.

I just looked it up...it is the same unit...don't know who makes it for who. It's an awesome tool...saves a lot of time!
