GM Glow Plug Thread Size

Post by Tim Martin »

Does anybody know the size of the glow plug thread for a 6.2L or a 6.5L GM V-8 diesel engine? We got one here that the threads are messed up and need to retap the threads.

I don't know the exact size but what i do is run a die down a new one and then use the corresponding tap.

Problem is I don't have a new glow plug. We are doing these heads for a project for someone else. I suppose I could go to auto parts store and get one, check the thread size and return the plug.

Try 10mm x 1.0 pitch. This is from a GM diesel forum for 1995 6.5, hope this helps you out.

Yes, that is the size. And I found out that I even have a tap for that size.

Thanks fellows for the help. It's great to have a group of experts to call on.
