GM Glow Plug Thread Size
Does anybody know the size of the glow plug thread for a 6.2L or a 6.5L GM V-8 diesel engine? We got one here that the threads are messed up and need to retap the threads.

I don't know the exact size but what i do is run a die down a new one and then use the corresponding tap.

Problem is I don't have a new glow plug. We are doing these heads for a project for someone else. I suppose I could go to auto parts store and get one, check the thread size and return the plug.steven kiser wrote:I don't know the exact size but what i do is run a die down a new one and then use the corresponding tap.

Try 10mm x 1.0 pitch. This is from a GM diesel forum for 1995 6.5, hope this helps you out.
Working hard to prove the Green Team can do it with the best of 'em.

Yes, that is the size. And I found out that I even have a tap for that size.liljoe wrote:Try 10mm x 1.0 pitch. This is from a GM diesel forum for 1995 6.5, hope this helps you out.
