1999 Chevy C1500 - 5.7 Kicksback, Grinds FIXED

Post by bmadison31 »

Truck kicksback or grinds when trying to start. It will occasionally start. I replaced Crank sensor per TSB (00-06-04-014). I also pulled the Distributor to check the drive gear since I have a lot of these come in with worn out gears no problem found on this one. Truck started perfect everytime I tested it after restabbing the distributor so I delivered the vehicle. Truck got towed back the following day doing the same problem. There are no engine Codes. Any help would be appreciated

These are known for cap and rotor problems...moisture? May even be a TSB on it.

Yea I'd agree. Do not put cheap ignition parts on these vehicles. If I remember there was a tsb on placement for the coil wire.

Replaced the Cap and Rotor. Delivered the vehicle appartenly no problems after 4 days. Note: On Cap replacement TSB recommends removing screens in distributor

Excellent!

I have a 2001 van here from another shop with a misfire they can't fix. Turns out to be a defective Advanced Auto Parts cap and a fouled plug. Man!
