2002 Chev Avalanche - Code P0440-FIXED

Post by nickscarcare »

I have this Avalanche that intermittently has this code. Have run the service bay test before and has passed. Today it did fail. I hook up the smoke machine and pressurize the system and no leaks found. I am thinking possible bad purge solenoid or tank pressure sensor?
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I've had plenty of intermittent vent solenoids on these. Sometimes I cycle them many times before I can get them to fail. Intermittents are tough but it sounds like you're on the right track.

We get a few of these intemrittens as well. It usually shakes out to be an vent valve intermittently acting up. We to just keep trying. We will use a heat gun to heat it and tap on it to.

Ok this one is fixed. It was the purge solenoid. Customer has been driving it now for 2 weeks and no light.
