2004 Chev Silverado 3500 - 6.6L (2) No Comm? FIXED

customer claims truck dies, of course it started right up. But the instrument cluster is not working, check communication to find none. What is the possibility of faulty ic causing dying problem?

For communication issues, I check powers and grounds on the offending module, then the integrity of the comm line. I'd use the factory scanner or at least 2 aftermarket scanners to make sure it's not me. If it's all good, there's little else than a bad module.

It's possible the cluster is the issue. No way of knowing since it's not acting up. If you suspect the cluster, take it off the bus and try to recreate the problem.

If memory serves me correct... If you take the cluster offline, the truck won't start because it's part of the passive antitheft?


Had a similar truck not too long ago, Intermittent cluster reading, radio would come on, not shut off, then not come on at all.. Customer OK'd the gamble on the cluster and the rest is history

On the later model trucks first sign of no Comm I got straight under the drivers seat and inspect the SRS Module...
