2002 Chev Trailblazer - A/C Liquid Line

Post by Jeff @ Able Auto »

I have an 02 Trailblazer 4.2 auto 2 wd. A/C high side port leaking. Not able to get it to come loose from line. Line is no longer avail from GM, none in the aftermarket. Looked to salvage, couldn't find a good one there either. Any ideas, customer wants a/c. Can't see scrapping an eleven year old car for an a/c line. Any ideas? Thanks, Jeff.

Is the Schrader leaking and can it be replaced? Do you have the last known good gm #?

G.M. only shows suction side  I thought that the port would unscrew from the line but I've destroyed lines taking them out when they are designed to. If it were me I would look on the web sights for the make your own a/c lines. Years ago I made all my a/c lines and for the life of me can't remember the supplier. May have been airco, don't know. They had splices with high side ports in them and all I had to do was use a tubing cutter and fit the splice in then tighten it. You may still find them but have to adapt from 12 to 134. I'll poke around and see what I can find.

O.K. got locked in on this one. Murray is a name of a company that makes a/c fittings. Part #'s 16761 and 16766 are splices that are cut and install compression union style. Dorman #'s are 800-966, 800-967. These will work. I saw them on O'Reily's web sight.

Thanks folks. I am gonna take the line off and see if I can get the port to come loose. If not I will look into the doorman repair parts. Planned obsolescence by the auto makers to drive up new car sales? Thanks again!

G.M. shows low side only as replaceable. High side port is part of the line.

Removed line from truck and clamped in vise. Propane heat for a second and came loose. This was the the liquid line high side charge port behind right headlamp. Installed new fitting and all is good. Thanks folks!!

Thanks for posting the fix. Had it been me (the way things are going lately) a June bug would've crawled inside the open condenser port.
