came in missing badly with codes p0022, p0171, p0175, p0300, p0305, p0306, p0307, p0308, p0316.
replaced spack plugs, one came out, seven broke off, plugs replaced, now codes p0022, p0171, p0175, p0306, p0316 came back, still missing badly on slight throttle. show to have resent oilchange with ford 5w20. thinking of running engine flush in oil for 15 min and then changing, also ordered a verible timing solinoid for it, vct?. some show a solenoid on both valve covers but this one only has one that i can see on the passinger valve cover.
any questions or ideas? thanks jack

Re: 2004 Ford F150 - 5.4L Missing; Codes
if the screen is plugged or restricted flushing will not do anything. i've replaced a bucket full of these sensors. another thing i may do before i replace it is drain the oil through a cheese cloth to check for metal contamination. not saying that this is a usual happening but a few times i've found a good amount of metal filings in the oil pan that led me to believe it was started without oil in it. if this is the case the screen will plug up again in a short amount of time and suddenly it's your issue not the shop that trashed the engine. i always try to cover my bases when a vehicle comes into my shop after another shop has tried to repair it or has just done work to it. i find that being prudent has saved me this aggravation and leads us back top my rule of taking out anything that the other shop has installed. once, and i will not allow it to happen again, i had a truck in the shop with a slight stumble after being tuned up at another shop. the plugs weren't gapped correctly. i took care of it, charged the person a hour and a half. about a month later the rotor screws backed off, trashed the distributor. well, since i had worked on it last it was my issue. the shop that didn't secure the screws balked at it because the person told them i had to straighten out the plugs. i worked on it so the warranty was void. the person felt that i should have checked all the work that was done because of the shoddy craftsmanship i had found. everyone is a victim...........................................

a lower end noise after sitting usually indicates worn crank bearings. a suggestion here, next time you look at this truck see if you can take a pry bar and move the crank pulley in and out. if you can the thrust bearing is worn and the writing is on the wall. you may be able to replace the mains without yanking the mill. it it's an automatic eventually the flex plate will crack or the converter will stuff the pump and trash the transmission.
