2004 F250 6.0L Diesel - No Power?
Have a 2004 ford F250 with a 6.0L and when it is cold this thing will not get out of its own way. No power missing and just no power.
Came in with the SES light on and found P0284-60 Cly 8 balance, P0336-60 Crankshaft position sensor a circuit range/performance, P2286-EO Injector control pressure sensor circuit high. Then in the HEC(Hybrid electrical Cluster(instrument)) data link fault. Had a B1360 ign switch circuit open and U1262 Standard corporate protocol data link fault. I cleared all the code but the U1262 will come right back on. When i first started it today it was about 25 outside and it did not want to start then when i did get it to start it ran bad until it was all warmed up. I know then they have a problem with ICP but need to know if this will fix the way it runs. Even after driving it 2 times running bad still have not got it to set any other codes. Even driving it and 3 miles running with a miss did not set any code...

What is the oil pressure when it wont start and is running bad. It likely has more then one problem these always seem to.

You should be able to read the high pressure pump through the scanner. Personally I would replace the crank sensor and IMPORTANTLY with a wire brush clean the sensor bore and seat. Clean it so it shines. I have round wire brushes specifically for this issue. Rust will form inside and under the seat lifting the sensor jut enough.

If parts are going to get replaced, use only OEM parts. Have too much experience with aftermarket parts that failed to adequately perform in these applications.

Checked out and found the FICM is only sending 30volts out instead of 48. Getting a new one next week and will let every one know.

My guess, that could make alot of difference in performance.92zman wrote:Checked out and found the FICM is only sending 30volts out instead of 48. Getting a new one next week and will let every one know.

We have repaired one of those before. They sale circuit boards as well as whole units depending on what is wrong with it. The whole unit will need to be programmed with the vin.

There is a program available that will increase voltage even more giving it even more power.

Replaced the FICM and that seemed to fix it. Still seems to have a miss but i believe that is a injector. Thanks for all the input.

Here's the thing though, I have seen a bad FICM ruin an otherwise good injector. So it is no surprise that you could have a bad injector yet, however with the FICM functioning correctly, diagnosis will be easier.
