Truck came in with a hole in the valve cover. Found then the driver side chain guide was broke.

I went though and replaced all chains guides solenoids everything. When i started at first ran great. But after about 100 miles starting to make some noise and know if u let it sit and run it will start to sound like a diesel.

Does anyone have a idea....?

Probally needs and engine. Have seen those brought in with low engine oil pressure. Timing chains making noise I refuse to do the chains on them due to this knowing its going to need an engine. I do not want to get bit by that.

Was there any sludge build up under the valve cover?

Check oil psi and found then at idle it will drop down to about 15psi and from what i have read then anything under 25psi will not let the vvt work right...

Yes needs more then that. I would not be surprised if it didn't drop down more when hot. When not taken care of these things become a can of worms. I have had them brought in after someone did chains and even vvt's still needed engine.
