Have you bothered to check and see what is missing when you lose injector pulse, or do you just keep cranking it till something happens?

Was there any test you did to determine that the computer was bad?

may be pcm but may also be the module.

i looked quickly and there is an ignition module. it may not be on the distributor but in a cooling block on or near the left inner fender or fire wall. i'm not positive but i think that the pcm fires the injectors from the impulse signal it gets from the ignition module. i've had issues with corrosion in the wiring but that's more of a geographical issue. these are the times a break out box would be great.

Doesn't that one use a camshaft sensor in synch with the crankshaft sensor to determine when to ignite plugs and fuel injectors? I have seen several issues with the sensors and the wiring pigtails on both of these sensors. I'd be getting my lab scope and examining patterns on both these sensors.

are you sure of the year? i'm not seeing a V10 in 1996.
another thought. i'm not sure so don't quote me here but if i remember correctly if you go w.o.t. doesn't it shut down injector pulse to clear flood?

Based on experience, I'd say the spark comes from the crank sensor. The cam sensor is used to synchronize the spark with the fuel injector on time.
