2002 Ford F150 - 5.4L Codes FIXED

Post by wiley »

Ok Guys & Girls I have a problem with this 02 f150. It came in with check engine lamp and it would hardly run.

DTC's was as followed: p0135,p0141,p0155,p0161,p0443,p0743,p0750,p0755,p1131,p1132,p1151,p1409,p1451,p1747. Now that that is out of the way. Ha!, Now started out by recording data and clearing the codes started engine back up and all codes returned. still running rough.

Check all grounds all good and clean and tight. started unplugging sensors, by the way all the data seemed to be ok they were a little slow to responed but value ok. Got to the transmission solenoid plug and as I unplugged it (with engine sluggishly running); the engine smoothed out and ran great. Plug it back up and it falls on it's face, unplug it again and it runs great.

Re-check dtc's and get p0758,p0755,p0753,p0743,p0740,p0443. Now the only one that looks fishy is the p0443 evap. Unplug it and it doesn't affect anything. Took trans pan down, check resistances on all components did not find the culprit yet; no backed out terminal, no solenoids shorted.

So does anyone have any other ideas that I may have missed or over looked? This is going to be a thorn... FIXED!!!!!!!!! It has a 4r70w. After checking harnesses again found bank 2 upstream o2 had been repaired    by someone else and they had extended the wires and miss routed them so that the heater wire would touch enough to melt the insulation back so that it could momentarily short the power circuit and since someone replaced the 15amp fuse with a 30amp in the pdc it wasn't blowing the fuse just causing problems. repaired the problems as it should be and put 15amp fuse back in place. Thank You guys

Does this have a throttle cable or is it fly by wire?

check the through plug. i've seen issues with these. another tip is check the harness going down to the transmission. there is a possibility that there is a short in the harness and it only is completed when it's plugged into the through plug. i'm leaning towards the through plug melted internally though..........................

4R70w or 4r100 are our 2 choices on this. More info and I'll try to help tomorrow. Be sure to check all fuses.
