2003 Ford Excursion 6.0L - No Start
2003 Ford Excursion 6.0L - No Start
Sure could use some help on this one. This is our first 6.0 nostart. Followed manual instructions. Low cranking oil pressure, 200-400 psi. Replaced ICP sensor & connector due to leaking. Same pressure. Installed IPR and pressure is the same. Removed valve covers & did air leak test. Air leak slows when IPR closed to 85% but still is there. Don't hear any leaks at the rails, but but from crankcase area. Are we going about this wrong? Got a lot of time in this one and feels like we took a wrong turn somewhere. Any info would sure help a lot. Tom

Will it hit off of starter fluid? Have you yanked out an 02 or dropped the exhaust pipe? Are the glo plugs powering up? I've had harness problems before on these. Scan codes in history for failed injectors. Is the lift pump supplying fuel? I've had issues with lower filter/pumps failing, upper filter housings sucking air, injectors, pumps, plugged exhausts, glo plugs and harnesses. tsb's 10-12-6 and 09-22-16 may help.

Update: After waiting weeks for customer approval problem solved. HPOP was leaking from shaft. Replaced pump and starts great. Thanks for all the tips. It really made this a lot easier.

Nice to see one of these fire up after sweating out the if's and ands of diagnosing one of these. Generally speaking if i can get it to fire off of either and it will restart until it cools down i usually find it's the HPOP. Just a bit of a tip here, i always explain to the customer that the injectors may start to fail and there is no maintenance procedure to stop it that i know of. If you have one that comes in with a rough idle until fully warmed up and no start when temp drops below the 30's you're probably going to replace injectors and HPOP. Make sure customer is seated when you give them the price. Even though the price of the reman injectors has dropped drastically it's still a shocker.
