2006 Chrysler 300 - PCM Connector Issues

Post by liljoe »

I have two 06 300s in the shop right now, both came from other shops ( not the same one ), one is 3.5 the other a 6.1, both have ETC issues. When driving it will set a code for the throttle. Both shops tried a new throttle body with now luck. I have determined that the connector pins for the PCM connectors are bad ( I can use a stick pin and feel a big difference in the drag compared to an 05 i have here with no running issues. I can wiggle the C2 connector on either one of these two cars and make it throw a code and go to limp mode for the ETC. I have ordered connector kits for both cars but the dodge place is telling me that they dont mess up. I guess what i am after now is just some reassurance that i am the right path. Both cars will sit and idle and rev up sitting in the bay, but i can duplicate the issue with a wiggle everytime. One of the cars will act up just from slamming the door on the car. Some one please tell me if i am chasing my tail on this one. I hate to second guess myself like this......????

THANKS!!!

Who cares what the dealer says. There should be no changes when connector plug is wiggled. A key step in any diagnostic flow at my shop is the wiggle test and I've lost count of how many vehicles failed that one,

When I worked for Chrysler ( 1994-2004) one of the biggest problems they had was wiring issues. Cant remember how many times I found a pin with only 2 or 3 strands crimped in the connector, loose pins, weak junctions, etc. I say go with what ya know!

If I had a dime for every time the dealer said, 'we've never sold one of those before, that can't be it', I'd be rich.

You have to remember then all cars are different and will have different things wrong. If all the cars had the same thing wrong we would not be needed.

Every time I need a part and it is not available for a long period of time I wonder If we are correct. Most makes and models seem to have similar issues but not 100% of the time.

Second guessing myself because of time issues or being told that this part never fails has cost me a lot of time. Lately I'm running across replacement parts that are junk or worse junk with different symptoms, this includes OEM parts.
