Rear brake lock up in damp weather first starting out. After brakes warm up ok. Any fix for this? Everything looks ok,no fluid leaks, shoes and hardware ok. Thanks Mark

Did YOU put the shoes on? If so, what brand? I've run into this a few times where inferior quality parts were used.

I had this problem on a 3/4 ton once. There was a VERY small gear oil leak from the hub seal. First few stops in the morning they would grab. Changed the shoes (even though they were new) and repaired the seal leak.

Ford had this same problem. They authorized us to replace the shoes with Raybestos. I believe it was a moisture/humidity issue with that particular lining.

My 99 Ranger does it, only when damp. I can ride the brake for 30-40 yards and it's ok. I'm to cheap to do anything to fix it.

That makes sense, i'm going to replace the brake shoes. Thanks for your input. Mark

just another tip here. check the wheel cylinders when the drum is off (one side at a time) you may have a partially frozen cylinder or one that's slow in returning. the shoes are the issue but it would be in your best interest to completely inspect the brakes.
