1986 Honda Prelude - Erratic Speedo

We have a erratic speedometer, cable is fine, odometer is fine. anyone has had a similar issue, is it a sensor?

is it only eratic at certain speeds? or all the time? don't think this dino has a speed sensor. could be the gears at either end of the cable

Rudy probally should smash the prelude. I honestly havent worked on one of those in 5 + years
