2008 Acura TSX GPS/Radio/A/C Screen

Post by John C. »

Gone dead. Radio and everything else (sans GPS) still work, just blank screen.

Local dealer says they pull it out (for around $350) then "send it out" for repair, and charge customer whatever the fix is on top of the $350. Claim they have no idea what exactly "the fix" is.

Anyone come across this?

When it's a combination radio / GPS they likely farm it out as exchange units because no one at dealer level troubleshoots them.

I say this as a TL owner.

Seen it a few times and since the fix is way out of my realm i don't give it a second thought. It could be a hammadue for all i know. If i start messing with a module the survival rate drops significantly.

Thanks everyone.

It's my wife's car, and of course the GPS worked fine all weekend.

What does not work, are any of the other functions. As I'm sure Tim knows, all the other audio and A/C functions are touch screen controlled. Well, whenever we try to bring any of those functions up, WHEN the screen is working, it will only show up for a second, then revert right back to the GPS map, or nothing at all will happen.

Gotta love the quality of today's products.

Tis a geeky thing. It might even be the firmware that runs the screen is corrupted or needs to be updated. That's either delivered by disc or some other means. Again, an exchange program probably keeps dealers out of trouble.

Probably only a dealer tech knows why this happens for sure.

Yes, and they aren't exactly freewheeling with that information, iffin you know what I mean?

My wife is seeing this as a reason for a new car. Being that she is the big breadwinner in the family, I can't really say too much about it, other than a new TL (which is what she wants) most likely will not fit in our garage.

Is the new one that much longer or just your cover story?

Do you ever play surround audio discs in yours?

That's my story, could actually be true, our house was built in 1925, but the fact that I can get her TSX and my Highlander both in at once...

But, that's my story, and I'm stickin to it.

The only time I ever played around with the audio system, was when we first got it, I put in a Rush CD and CRANKED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah baby, yeah.

Getting back to the basic survival code for man. HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE........ If my wife decided she wanted a Fire Truck and i was sure she would be happy i would throw in a Dalmatian and Chiefs hat.

Then the boys in white would show up and take her to Sherwood Forest where people wear paper nighties and use sporks.

Don't even think of giving it to her without checking to see if there's water in it first. BOOM!

On a better note. Did you call tech support for the radio. I bet if you re-boot it it will work. Seems to work on any thing i touch.

When you get this figured out I got one for you. My Foresters deck ate my autographed Fred Bear tape on lunch. Tonight i'm gonna remove the deck with an axe and fix it with a BFH. In these parts if you don't have a Nuge tune in your car they'll hang yah in the town square. (not uncommon to see him round here)
