2002 Honda Accord - 2.3L VTEC With P1259

Post by jbadenoch »

Having some trouble diagnosing a P1259 on this 2002 Accord.

Got down to step 14 on the Mitchell diagnostic procedure and everything checks out so far. Also checked for pin fit and that the pressure switch connector wasn't swapped with the fan switch connector. Can't go much further with Mitchell diag. without the pressure gauge adapter (boss says will buy if he needs to). Both the solenoid and pressure switch PIDs remain OFF no matter what.

Just wondering if anyone had any more insight into this problem.

Whats the oil like new? Level? Mileage on vehicle any chance of a restriction. Id start with a bg engien flush with fresh oil and then go from there? Cost the least and may save you from banign your head on the desk

167k miles. The oil was a quart low and the had recently been changed. Customer says the problem has been happening for some time (ever since he had a timing belt replaced).

We always * when a customer with holds something that could have made our life easier. You have the answer here. The vvt is controlled by pressure and if not set up correctly can give a false positive because it's not reacting correctly.
never argue with a fool, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
