This car has a 2.5 motor in it. Customer took it some place for an oil change. The shop did not drain old oil and put the new oil in, so it was way over full. We drain the oil and put the right amount in it. The car was smoking every time you started it. After we drain the oil it got a little better , but still smokes when it sits running. We pulled the head and took it to the shop for new valve seal put in it. Installed the head and it still smokes after it sets running. Replace pcv valve also and this car only has 55,000 miles on it. This all started with the oil change. Car was fine before. Need help , not sure what else it could be. The valve seals was bad in head !

My first thought is that over-oiling would affect rings before valve seals.

Just relayed this to Mark, and that's what he said. Oh, and he added, "it's engine time."

maybe the exhaust is still loaded with oil and it will take some time to burn out?

Maybe. If the cylinders are not damaged, they might get away with a re-ring. Risky.

Good point. How much has it been driven since the repair work?

It may have to run a lot longer than 20 minutes to resolve the oil burning issue if it is in the exhaust. I've seen vehicles smoke for hours when head gaskets blew. a quick answer would be to drop the exhaust.
